On the territory of Slovakia there is a wide network of roads, which consists of highways, high-speed roads, roads of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. In 2004, there were 316 km of motorways in Slovakia. Traffic and lane markings comply with European regulations. The quality of the road surface is good enough, but in mountainous areas the roads are often somewhat worse and rather winding.

Payment for the use of highways and expressways in Slovakia is carried out with a special sticker, which is valid for one year, one month or one week. The weight of the vehicle is also taken into account. For vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, you can also buy a sticker with a validity period of 24 hours.

Within a settlement, the maximum permitted speed is 50 km / h, outside settlements- 90 km / h, on motorways - up to 130 km / h. It is necessary to turn on the dipped headlights at any time of the year and day, regardless of weather conditions. The use of seat belts is mandatory both in the city and on the highway. Drinking alcohol, even beer, is prohibited. It is forbidden to speak on a mobile phone while driving, as well as to install anti-radar detectors in the car.

On February 1, 2009, new traffic rules came into force in Slovakia. They tighten requirements for drivers and impose heavy fines for offenders. For exceeding the speed limit by 20 km / h, the driver will have to pay a fine of 20 euros, and exceeding the speed of 80 kilometers per hour - already 1300 euros. Driving while intoxicated will cost 1000 euros. The fine can be paid on the spot either in cash or by credit card. In this case, the policeman can withdraw driver's license if the offender does not have the required amount.

The size of the country is very small, so most of the traffic is carried out by trains and buses. Traveling between cities by train will cost tourists a little less than a bus trip along the same route.

Public transport

Trams, buses and trolleybuses act as urban transport.

Intercity bus service is somewhat more expensive than rail, but it is more "flexible" and connects more settlements. Bus tickets are sold both at the ticket offices of bus stations and from the drivers.

In Slovakia, there is a system of youth and student discounts, plus the price of a ticket for intercity buses is much lower on weekends than on weekdays.

Bus to Slovakia

Among all the other types of transport, I would also like to highlight the bus, it is bus routes that are now gaining incredible popularity, all because they are cheaper, they spend not much time on the road, but longer than the same planes. You can order a ticket for an international bus route to Slovak cities on the website. This will be a direct connection, no intermediaries, no overpayments. On this site, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you can also buy, book a ticket, or simply find out the information you need: flight schedule or ticket availability. Just imagine how convenient it is, now you will not need to spend time and money on the road, so that later, after standing in line, you will find out that the ticket is no longer available. Now you can learn all this while sitting at home or at work, or at school. Anywhere and anytime, wherever there is the Internet. By the way, a feature of such an order is also payment, which is made through bank card Master Card or Visa systems. Let's try to book a ticket: select the place of departure and destination, the date, if there are flights and tickets, then move on, if not, then you can try to find another flight, for this you need to check the “with transfers” module. If everything worked out, then enter the name, surname and other contact details of the passenger in Latin letters, proceed to payment while your ticket is sent to your e-mail. There you need to download and print it, this document gives you the right to travel along the specified route on the specified day.

When you take your seat on the bus, you need to present this (electronic) ticket to the driver or stewart. In general, we recommend arriving thirty minutes in advance: you can find a platform, a regular bus, drop oversized bags into the luggage compartment and take your place on a comfortable bus. An air-conditioned bus has spotlights, comfortable chairs, a shelf for things, a small kitchen that looks like a bar, a toilet, the upholstery does not let in noise. During the whole trip, you can watch something, for example, watch that movie for which we have always felt sorry for the time or revise your favorite movie. Read a book, grab your sleeping glasses, and relax. This trip will give you a lot of new impressions.

Each flight to Slovakia has a license, according to which stops in transit countries are conditionally allowed, and in other places - always, please. On international flights, gas stations become stopping points, where the bus can undergo technical inspection or refueling, and passengers can drink coffee in the cafeteria, stretch their legs and breathe fresh air. Flights depart according to the schedule, and arrive according to it. No delays or delays, namely international flights help us to quickly and efficiently cover long distances.

Do not forget to take your documents with you to the salon. At the bus station, you hand over all oversized bags to the luggage compartment, but there is no access to it all the way, so you must have your documents with you. If you are asked for documents when crossing borders or going through customs, you need to show them. Otherwise, you may be detained for three days.

The carrier or driver is not responsible for the passenger being removed from the flight. Therefore, be careful, find out what can and cannot be imported / exported to the territory of Slovakia. These can be different things: food, medicine, or other things.
