The settlement occupies the Koktebel basin, protected by the Kuchuk-Yanyshar and Biyuk-Yanyshar ridges, the Klementyev mountain, and the spurs of the Tatar-Khaburg hill. At the very foot of the extinct volcano, the Tepsen plateau stretches like an elevated terrace.
On the territory of Koktebel, waters are carried by small rivers that dry up for the summer. In the northern part of the village lies the bed of the Armutluk River, on which a small reservoir is formed. From the east, the small bays Mertvaya and Tikhaya adjoin the Koktebel Bay.
