Voronezh and its sights with photos and descriptions. Voronezh in one day: where to go, what to see Attractions of the Voronezh region

A tourist route especially for those who have come to Voronezh for just a day or have only a day for a purposeful walk around the city. The route touches on almost all sights, it is consistent and, depending on the number of stops and the speed of movement, will take on average 4-5 hours. When compiling it, I tried to abandon the use of transport, leaving it only where it is necessary. If you have more than a day at your disposal, the route breaks down easily. In addition, at the end of the note, I separately added several interesting places, not included in the main list.

Of course, those who like to go their own way can pull out the sights they like from the text and draw up their own plan for exploring Voronezh. With a total lack of time: when there is practically no time, but you still want to look at the city, pay attention to.

Tourist route: attractions of Voronezh in one day

We start our journey with Voronezh-1 station... Almost all trains, electric trains, buses from Moscow arrive here. If you come by bus from another city, then most likely you will be brought to the bus station. You can get from it to Voronezh-1 by buses 13н and 67а as well as on minibus 49b... It will take no more than 15 minutes.

The building of the main Voronezh station was built after the Great Patriotic War on the site of the destroyed old station. Its roof is decorated with several copper figures of people. A funny feature that I have never met in any other city is that somewhere since the beginning of the 2010s, the Voronezh railway station and a small adjacent territory were surrounded by a metal fence. The entrance is through a special checkpoint. It is clear that for security reasons, but it looks strange.

Once on the station square, one cannot fail to notice opposite the monument to Ivan Chernyakhovsky, the hero of that very war. Behind him begins Mira street, we also need it. We cross the road.

At the end of Mira Street, on a small nameless square, we admire the Glory to Soviet Science monument. Further, on the left hand, a huge and beautiful cathedral will appear in front of us. On the right hand will be Eaglet park... First we look at the park, then we return to the cathedral.

The main attraction of "Orlyonok" - monument to Osip Mandelstam, a good poet, many love his poems, translations. Monument from 2008. He is in the far corner of the "Eaglet", if you look at Engels street... And if you look from the monument obliquely across the intersection, then we will see along the same Engels street house number 13, where in 1936 Osip Mandelstam rented a room.

Across Tchaikovskogo Street is the Trud stadium, where the Fakel football team and sometimes even the Russian national team play their matches. Outside, there is nothing remarkable, but from the stands an excellent panorama opens, including the already mentioned Cathedral, in the evening it is especially expressive. But to contemplate it, you will need a football team match plus a ticket for it.

After a walk in the park, we return to the monument "Soviet Science" in order to get to know more closely the next attraction of Voronezh. it Cathedral of the Annunciation, one of the tallest Orthodox churches in Russia. It was built relatively recently - in 2009. Near the cathedral there is a monument to St. Mitrofan, and not far from the main entrance there is a monument to the Liquidators of the Chernobyl Accident.

We do not go back from the cathedral, but go through another exit to the intersection and the main Voronezh avenue named after the Revolution... We cross the road to the spectacular building of the administration of the South-Eastern Railway with a tower at the corner.

Will literally meet us right away Ivan Kramskoy Museum, a Russian painter of the mid-19th century, who was born near Voronezh. The museum is located behind the arch of the same building of the South-Eastern Railway, if you do not know about it, you can overlook the museum.

It is located in an old building from the late 18th century. Interesting exhibitions are held here from time to time, but the permanent exhibitions, frankly, are not for everybody. Museum visit price - 150 rubles.

Further along Revolyutsii Avenue awaits us Platonovsky square and, in fact, monument to Andrey Platonov, born in 1899 in the glorious city of Voronezh. Andrei Platonov, along with Alexei Koltsov, is the main literary pride of Voronezh. Recently, the Platonov Festival of Arts, quite significant in scale, has even been held here.

Past monument to Mitrofan Pyatnitsky in the square of the House of Officers, you are unlikely to pass, and not so much because of the bust of Pyatnitsky, but because of the balalaika and button accordion in the corner, which are generally perceived by many as a separate pedestal and are always popular with tourists. Mitrofan Pyatnitsky is a musician and collector of folk songs. He lived in the late 19th - early 20th centuries.

On our way we will meet the Voronezh Central Department Store, but it is very modest in size and assortment (which cannot be said about the prices), so we successfully pass it and soon find ourselves on a miniature square with a small fabulous building of the Jester puppet theater.

Here is one of the most recognizable sculptures in Voronezh - monument to White Bim Black Ear, the hero of the book by Gabriel Troepolsky, and later the film by Stanislav Rostotsky. Troepolsky lived in Voronezh for many years, and died here. Travelers love the Bimu monument, they can be observed here almost at any time of the day. Also in the square, pay attention to the huge wall clock with puppet characters.

After the cinema "Proletary" we turn off the avenue to the right - onto Karl Marx street, on the nearest stretch it is exclusively pedestrian. Here, one by one, we will meet monuments to three poets: Ivan Nikitin, Samuel Marshak and Vladimir Vysotsky.

The pedestrian part of Marx Street itself is empty, but definitely worthy of interest. Once there was an impromptu book fair, but now only trees and benches. Although here and there all sorts of cafes and shops are already appearing. In five years, I suppose, these places will be completely unrecognizable.

Monument to Samuil Marshak(it is on the right side) appeared in the city only in 2015, and, for my taste, this is one of the best monuments in Voronezh. What can not be said about the monument depicting Vysotsky. Vladimir Semyonovich turned out on it, to put it mildly, not very well.

After Vysotsky, we pass a little more straight and on Nikitinskaya street turn left to get to a wide and beautiful Plekhanovskaya street... Here we need to pass the intersection obliquely and go a little against the traffic in order to look at Historical building local history museum ( Plekhanovskaya, 29). Someone may be interested in getting inside, the museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday.

In general, there are not so many special sights on Plekhanovskaya Street as on Revolutsii Avenue, for the sake of which a particular place is worth visiting, but the street is large, spectacular and generally deserves attention. Plekhanovskaya ends Zastava Square and a bridge over the railway, after which the street is transformed into Moskovsky Prospekt, which lasts right up to the exit to the region; from a tourist point of view, it is not very interesting.

After the local history museum, we turn 180 degrees and move along Plekhanovskaya straight to Pushkin square and a rather original, but by no means everyone's favorite monument to Alexander Sergeevich himself with a famous quote from the poet.

We go around the square on the left to look at the facade of the neighboring building, because this is a massive structure with columns, where, if there is time, we could go.

Opposite the theater, there is a monument to Lenin and a rather large empty area around (in fact, Lenin Square); on holidays, stands appear here and concerts are held. Behind Lenin's back is the government building Voronezh region... But we don't need it.

And we need to be behind him - in Platonov Square, in order to sit on "Therapeutic chair No. 0001", eliminating greed and greed. It is a monument, but not an easy one. A smile on your own face will be a free bonus for you.

On the other side of Lenin Square (relative to the Opera and Ballet Theater) we go to the Nikitin Library, in Buninsky square... Here is located monument to Ivan Bunin... The poet sits on a fallen log with a dog at his feet. The monument is beautiful, with its own plot, and definitely deserves attention.

Our next object of interest from Lenin Square is clearly indicated by Vladimir Ilyich himself, this Koltsovsky square, one might say, “the heart of Voronezh”. A well-groomed place, pleasant for walking or quiet contemplation.

What there is never a shortage here is in the shops, there is a free place at any time of the day or night. Despite the highways that line the park, it is quite quiet here. Well, it's time to rest your legs.

Inside the square you will find monument to Alexei Koltsov, to the Voronezh poet straight from the Golden Age. The monument is peculiar - a small bust of the poet is supported by a base that is dozens of times larger in size. But the pedestal is historically valuable, in 2018 it will turn 150 years old.

On the left side of the Koltsovsky square there will be a philharmonic society and the central registry office of Voronezh, on the right - a cult cinema "Spartak" with more than 100 years of history, all sorts of interesting film festivals and unusual screenings are held here. Not sure what to do in the evening? Perhaps it is Spartak that will pleasantly surprise you.

If you find yourself in Koltsovsky Square in the daytime, I highly recommend to look here again late in the evening. With a variety of lighting, the already wonderful landscape begins to play with new colors. And if it is summer season, then for you also the multi-colored fountains will dance to the music (somewhere from 21:00 to 22:00).

After taking a walk and having a rest, we cross the road to the cinema "Spartak" and along Kardashov street we move forward 150 meters. Yeseninskaya alley awaits us monument to Sergei Yesenin... He was not even ten years old.

Further along the alley there will be stone monument... No, seriously, this is a monument in honor of the 300th anniversary of the first Voronezh school, but all my friends in Voronezh call it a monument to the Stone and nothing else, since the entire monument is one large stone block.

We pass the alley to the end and on Ordzhonikidze street we turn right. Nearby will be the Resurrection Church, as well as a small pretty one, built back in 1826. Locals they call it the Bridge of Lovers. Ten years ago, it was all hung with "wedding locks", then by order of the authorities they were all removed. Now, if new specimens appear, it will not be for long.

We turn 180 degrees and walk along Ordzhonikidze Street in the opposite direction - to the Soviet Square and Cathedral of the Intercession, the main Orthodox church the entire Voronezh region. The first mention of it in various historical documents dates back to 1615.

To the left of the cathedral is another monument to Alexei Koltsov and Voronezh concert hall, it is also the second stage of the Koltsov Drama Theater. In front of the facade there is a pretty cobbled square, but empty and clearly in need of improvement.

Upd. Dreams, as you know, materialize if you want something very much. So Sovetskaya Square (public garden) in 2017 waited for reconstruction and improvement work. Perhaps, by your visit, she will already appear in a new light. Of the minuses - the monument to Alexei Koltsov was removed from here for good. His new place of registration for the City Day (September 15, 2018) will be Koltsovsky Boulevard.

Koltsovsky Boulevard is located at the intersection of Plekhanovskaya and Koltsovskaya streets. If you wish, you can “capture” it along with the monument on the route by making a small detour at point 14: after the monument to Vysotsky on the pedestrian part of Marx Street, we turn left not on Nikitskaya Street, but on the next one, after 500 meters. This is Koltsovsky Boulevard. [This is even more convenient, since you do not need to walk back and forth to the Museum of Local Lore, it will meet itself on the way to Lenin Square. Perhaps, the next time the route is updated, I will put this option as the main one.]

We go around the Intercession Cathedral on the right and go down the road a little - straight to the Children's Square, to the picturesque square of the Palace of Children and Creativity and the no less picturesque Palace itself. Everything is beautiful here, but the place, however, is often deserted. Several private houses on the borders of the square - that's the whole civilization.

After looking around, we return to the Intercession Cathedral to turn onto the next street - Ankylosing spondylitis, along which, past private houses, we follow down to the Voronezh river... Walk about half a kilometer. The street is small, narrow, there are often no passers-by here. [Note that adjacent streets end in dead ends.]

At the end of Bekhtereva Street we cross one road to the right and follow the zebra crossing the second. Further on the right side we go around the fence. We will end up on Petrovskaya embankment, which offers a wonderful view of the left bank of Voronezh, of the Voronezh River itself, of bridges, and, of course, of.

Very close and Admiralteyskaya square, one of the most beautiful places in Voronezh. Well-groomed landscape, benches, Rostral column, established in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet, built at the end of the 17th century, Petrovsky Island is in full view. You will find all this on the Admiralteyskaya Square.

Often all kinds of concerts and other cultural events are held here. In general, a chic place, which is a sin not to visit. It has only one significant drawback - and it is not always easy and not always convenient to get there on foot.

In the far corner of the square, on the water, you will see a large beautiful ship "Goto Predestination"(translated from German roughly as "God's foresight"), this is a historical copy of a ship from the times of Peter I. The ship was built recently, only by 2014.

In addition to its external advantages, it is also a museum. I myself have not visited it, it is a very popular place, especially on weekends, tickets are sold out like hot cakes. No more than 20 people can visit the ship during one excursion.

The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 to 18 hours. Tours take place at 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17 hours. The only exception is Thursday from June 1 to September 1, here the opening hours and excursions are shifted by +2 hours. Ticket price 300 rubles.

If you are lucky enough to have tickets on sale, don't hesitate, be sure to visit Goto Predestination. Unfortunately, mere mortals cannot book tickets, and it will not be possible to buy tickets online either. Hopefully someday this will be fixed. I also recommend paying attention to this comment below.

And here is a useful addition from another comment: “To be sure to get to“ Goto Predistinatsiya ”, you have to come before the ticket office opens, 20 minutes before, then you will definitely buy tickets. For children and pensioners the ticket price is 100 rubles. "

By the way, since we are next to the river, for sure, someone had an idea to swim in it. Theoretically, this can be done - there is where, but not worth it. Formally, this is prohibited due to non-compliance with sanitary standards, in fact, there is no need to spoil your impression of the city. The water is very dirty, there is even a lot of visible debris.

From Admiralteyskaya Square we go along the river to the left (if you turn to face it) straight to Chernavsky bridge, the very first bridge that will meet. A little before reaching it at a near traffic light, we cross the street and move along the road upward perpendicular to the embankment.

This is a hill climb, not Everest, of course, but be prepared to get a little out of breath. Then you need to pass a little more than a kilometer along a rather dusty road straight to the already familiar Revolution Avenue, and then turn left.

Nothing interesting is expected along the way, so if you are too lazy to stomp up the hill, use the alternative: we pass under the Chernavsky bridge, cross the street on the first zebra crossing and follow a little forward to the stop “Chernavsky most” we sit down on almost any transport (namely buses: 101, 120A, 2n, 41, 52, 79, 90; minibuses: 104, 20, 312A, 37a, 77k; trolleybus 8), we go two stops to "Petrovsky Square", after which we go to the opposite side along one of the few underground passages in Voronezh.

Here we are invited to Petrovsky square and majestic monument to Peter I, created from the models of 1860. In 2009, by the vote of the residents of Voronezh, this monument was recognized as the unofficial symbol of the city. The park itself is ennobled, pretty, but somewhat decorative. You know how sometimes paintings are in houses, not for the sake of beauty, they are hung, but to create a general composition.

Here I recommend to visit book club "Petrovsky"(behind the fountain we go inside shopping center and to the left). This is an interesting, cozy bookstore with a rich and unexpected assortment, where, before buying a book, you can calmly look at it, leaf through it while sitting in a comfortable chair. And there is also a small cafe.

Also, the book club periodically hosts various events: creative meetings, screenings, concerts. Prices for books are above average, but other publications in Voronezh (and not only) cannot be found. Well, for "read / see pictures" no one will demand money from you.

Further from the park we follow against the movement of cars along Revolyutsii Avenue towards Lenin Square. pay attention to main post office and a blue neighboring building with lions ( ave. Revolution, 27), here in the middle of the 19th century there was hotel Shvanvich.

Between the post office and the former hotel there is a worthy monument to the "Front postman", behind him is a small Victory square, it is also Victory Square. Here is a WWII memorial, an eternal flame and a beautiful 40-meter stele. Despite the military theme, this park has a pleasant atmosphere to sit on a bench, having a little rest from a walk.

Continuing the path of 800 meters, we simply admire the architecture until we are met, founded in early XIX century, the theater will be on the left, its facade is located on the side of Karl Marx Street.

We cross the Revolution Avenue after the theater and walk a little further past the Philharmonic and the Registry Office to the public transport stop called "Koltsovsky Square". Here we sit on one of the following routes: buses 41, 79, 90; minibus 37a... We get off at the bus stop "Ulitsa General Lizyukova". The ride is 10-15 minutes.

Who is this Lizyukov, after whom the street is named? This is a major general of the Soviet army, a hero of the Union, who died at the age of 42 during the Great Patriotic War somewhere in the Voronezh region; where exactly is unknown. You probably already guessed where and why we are heading, right?

Not far from the bus stop, the most recognizable and most beloved symbol of Voronezh is waiting for us - kitten from Lizyukov street, more precisely, a monument depicting a kitten sitting on a tree and a crow sitting next to it.

The monument is very beautiful, friendly, it is loved by both children and adults. Its only drawback is its location, because Lizyukov Street is far from the center of Voronezh; in any case, you need to go here by bus or taxi. But you can't put a kitten in another place, it's not from anywhere, but from Lizyukov Street. There are not many tourists here, no one will interfere with viewing the monument in detail and having plenty of pictures with the kitten.

If you have time and desire to walk, go for a couple more stops in the direction of travel to the amazing monument to paratroopers.

And since we came here, be sure to master one more stop and look into cafe "Bilbo's"... How to find it: after house number 46 on Lizyukov Street, turn right and after 150 meters on the right you will see “At Bilbo's”, it cannot be confused with anything. Read more about this cafe in the next post.

In a nutshell: “Bilbo's” is a damn cozy place, where not so much you want to drink and eat, but just be, even if you, like me, are not a fan of The Lord of the Rings, etc. For fans, this is just a fairy tale. Prices are slightly above average.

That's all. From “Bilbo” we return to Lizyukov Street, cross the road and at the “60 Let VLKSM Street” stop we get into the transport. To the railway station is bus # 62 or minibus # 75, go for 15-20 minutes. To the bus station (it is nearby): buses 120А, 13н, 5а, 79, 90; minibus 125... To Lenin Square (the stop will be called "Theater of Opera and Ballet") - bus No. 5а, minibus No. 125.

If you have finished your walk at the monument to the kitten, go to st. Lizyukov and turn the corner onto Marshal Zhukov street, the stop will be two steps away. You will get to the railway station by bus # 62 15 minutes before the bus station on almost any route: buses 120А, 13н, 27, 27А, 415а, 79, 90; minibuses 125, 37, 37a; trolleybus 17... To Lenin Square: bus number 5a, minibuses 37 and 125.

Where else to go in Voronezh?

As a bonus, I will add a couple of points that I did not include in the main route, but nothing prevents you from fixing it.

Scarlet Sails Park (st. Arzamasskaya, 93). It is located on the left bank (you haven't forgotten that Voronezh is located on both sides of the river?). From here a picturesque view of the river, the bridge and, in fact, the right bank opens up.

There is a beach in Scarlet Sails, I remind you that you should not swim here, but lying in the sun after reading an interesting book is not without pleasure, if the weather permits. Also, holidays and festivities are periodically held here. In general, it can be fun.

The best way to get here is after visiting Petrovskaya embankment. At the Chernavsky bridge we sit on bus 68a or minibuses 104, 20, 37a... We drive 4 stops to “Arzamasskaya Street”, follow a little straight ahead and immediately turn right, after 250 meters there will be an entrance to Alye Sails. (To return later on the route to Petrovsky Square, take minibuses 104, 20, 37a, 77k reversed).

Yesenin Museum (st. Karl Marx, 112). In general, there are two of them in Voronezh (the second is on Donbasskaya Street). They are both small. Here I will mention the new one, since it is closer to the center.

The expositions here are very modest, which is understandable: Yesenin has never been to Voronezh. Most of them are copies or props from the Yesenin TV series. But where else can you find a roof in the shape of a bowler hat? Besides, the entrance to the museum is free.

It works from 10 to 18... It is more convenient to go here after walking along the pedestrian part of Karl Marx Street (point 13), the detour will have to be made not so big: after the monument to Vysotsky we do not turn anywhere, go straight for another 700 meters, the museum will be on the right - at the intersection with Revolution 1905 Street.

The huge bowler hat is hard to miss, this is the entrance to the museum. To return to the route after it, on Revolution Street in 1905 we turn left, then to Plekhanovskaya, cross the road and left again, after 400 meters we will be met by the building of the local history museum.

Monument of Glory and pyramid (intersection of Moskovsky prospect and Kholzunova street). With the monument of Glory, everything is clear - it was erected in memory of the soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War in the battles for Voronezh. Monolithic imposing monument, eternal flame, flowers. But the big red pyramid right in the center of the square with the inscription "Voronezh - the city of military glory" is a mystery of the city.

The pyramid was installed in 2000, and the inscription appeared only in 2009. The irony is that a large part of tourists [but what are there tourists, not all locals are even aware of] the pyramid is mistaken for a monument of Glory. If you are driving by by bus, it is easy to miss the monument on the side of the road, but a bright pyramid with a characteristic inscription in the center is almost impossible.

I recommend getting here either before or after visiting the monument to the kitten from Lizyukov Street, it's nearby, just a kilometer away. Both here and from here to the center there are a huge number of routes, I will not even enumerate them. Ask any passerby. The required stop is called the "Monument of Glory".

Chupa-Chups and the main building of Voronezh State University(addition from

Voronezh is worth visiting not only for its sake interesting museums, numerous parks and picturesque squares. There are also funny monuments to animals - heroes of famous literary works, and monuments-copies of the first Peter's ships. As well as unusual buildings in the Art Nouveau and Gothic style late XIX-XX centuries, which is quite surprising for a city located in the south of Central Russia.

There are many traditional Russian churches, theaters, and former merchant mansions in Voronezh that catch the eye with their noble and elegant appearance. Also, tourists should pay attention to the monuments perpetuating the image of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The Voronezh Sea, a huge urban reservoir stretching for tens of kilometers, is of no less interest.

The most interesting and Beautiful places for walking. Photos and a short description.

1. Monument to White Bim

One of the unofficial symbols of the city, created by sculptors I. Dikunov and E. Pak based on the work of the same name. The monument was erected in 1998 on Revolutsii Avenue near the Jester puppet theater.

2. A kitten from Lizyukov street

7. Assumption Admiralty Church

The most old church the city that has survived to this day. It was erected in the 17th century (or at the end of the 16th), after which it was repeatedly renovated and rebuilt. Since the 1970s, separate restoration work has been carried out, but a full-fledged reconstruction was carried out only in the 2000s.

8. Alekseevo-Akatov monastery

The women's monastery, which emerged in the 17th century. Initially, the monastery was for men, but after the revival in the 20th century, nuns began to live here. Here are kept the miraculous icon "Life-giving source" and the healing image of the great martyr Panteleimon.

9. Intercession Cathedral

The first wooden church on the site of the Intercession Cathedral was erected at the beginning of the 17th century, the stone church appeared many years later - at the end of the 18th century. In Soviet times, the building housed various institutions, including the local museum of local lore, thanks to which the cathedral managed to survive.

10. Koltsov Drama Theater

One of the oldest theaters in Russia, founded in 1802. His first troupe consisted of freed peasants (former serf actors) and ordinary enthusiasts. A separate building for the stage was built in 1821, in 1886 it was rebuilt in the pseudo-Russian style. Unfortunately, it has not survived to this day, as it was destroyed during the Second World War. The modern building adorned the city in 1944.

11. Opera and ballet theater

The main musical stage of Voronezh, which first appeared in the city in the 1930s on the basis of the Musical Comedy Theater. For a long time of work, more than 200 works from the classical ballet and opera repertoire have been staged here. Today the theater program consists of both traditional works and contemporary works by talented authors.

12. Puppet theater "Jester"

The history of puppet theater began in 1925 with an amateur university production, in which young artists were involved. Very soon, the performances moved to a professional platform, and the stage gained popularity among the audience. The theater's repertoire is composed of works for adults and children. Plays by N.V. Gogol, M. de Cervantes, W. Shakespeare, A.P. Chekhov, R. Kipling and other famous authors are staged here.

13. Voronezh Museum of Local Lore

The museum is renowned as one of the leading exhibitions in the city. It houses numismatic, ethnographic, philatelic, weapons collections, as well as collections of porcelain, ceramics, rare books and other valuable exhibits. The main building of the museum is a picturesque urban mansion from the beginning of the 20th century with a bright red facade. The building was built of bricks in the eclectic manner, diluted with elements of the Russian style.

Voronezh is one of the most beautiful cities in Russia, its rich story has left prints everywhere, decorating city streets with remarkable architectural and cultural monuments... The multifaceted Voronezh reminds one of a cute cartoon kitten from Lizyukov Street, others know it as the homeland of the Navy, and for some it is the place where Tu-144 and Il-86 aircraft were first designed in the world.

The name of Voronezh is a nuclear-powered missile-carrying submarine, and two lunar craters are named after the inhabitants of the city.

4 ancient Russian settlements were found on the territory of Voronezh: there is a hypothesis that these places were described in one of the most ancient European chronicles - the ancient Aryan epic. On the right bank of the Voronezh reservoir, from Lysaya to Barkovaya Gora, there is an 11-kilometer archaeological complex called "Voronezh Vantit". It includes 34 monuments of different times of the 8-10th centuries and 565 burial mounds.

Despite the actual age (the official year of the city's foundation - 1568), Voronezh is a new city, rebuilt from the ruins after the Great Patriotic War. In July 1942, German troops approached Voronezh, occupied its right-bank part, at the same time a bombardment from the air destroyed most of it to the ground. The defense lasted until January 1943. Later, the city was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Order of Lenin, and in modern history it received an honorary title Russian Federation"City of Military Glory".

Despite its actual age (the city was founded in 1568), Voronezh is a new city, rebuilt from the ruins after the Great Patriotic War.

Peter I laid the foundation for the construction of the Russian fleet in Voronezh, thereby making a huge contribution to the history of the city. Here, the Peter's Palace with a citadel and a seikhgauz on the island have survived to this day. In the most beautiful Petrovsky park in 1860, a bronze monument to the emperor was erected, which turned into one of the symbols of Voronezh.

In addition to the bronze Peter, the city has many monuments dedicated to other famous people who left an imprint in the history of the city and country during their lifetime: Ivan Nikitin, Alexei Koltsov, Ivan Bunin, Sergei Yesenin, Osip Mandelstam and Andrei Platonov. There are also unusual monuments: the cartoon Kitten from Lizyukov Street, the dog Bim - the hero of G. Troepolsky's story "White Bim - Black Ear", as well as bronze "surprises" for the townspeople and guests - either a parrot with a pirate chest, or a panther, or a shoe at the store ...

Although the Great Patriotic War destroyed Voronezh almost to the ground, great city cherishes the memory of the brave and noble war heroes. The Voronezh Rotunda is the ruins of the main entrance to the building of the regional children's hospital, destroyed during the war and preserved in such a way that this unusual monument always reminds of what hard times the city has left behind. There is also a memorial complex in Voronezh - the Monument of Glory - where an eternal flame burns, a stele with the Order of the Patriotic War of the first degree rises, and on the granite tombstones of a mass grave that buried ten thousand soldiers, the names of the heroes who died defending their city shine in gold.
