Approximate cost of excursions for the winter season 2017/18

Individual excursions Price

It is difficult to immediately understand the variety of excursions offered, in new names, locations and prices, even though the same sights are often called by different names, to determine where it is better to visit with an excursion, and where on your own. Well, you don’t want to overpay for a trip in an air-conditioned bus.

Having lived in Nha Trang for more than two months and having seen most interesting places, we came to the conclusion that almost all the sights in the resort can be explored on your own.

As a starting point, we will take the Lotus Tower on the embankment.

For convenience, we have summarized the list of attractions in Nha Trang in a table. The pedestrian zone in the table is 3 km and marked in green.

Attractions in the yellow zone can be reached by city or free shuttle bus.

The sights of the red zone can be reached by bike, taxi or by buying a tour.

Buses go south along the third line of the European quarter, north - along the second.

We regretted not going to Dalat on our own. About the journey to the city of eternal spring - Dalat, in a separate article. Be sure to visit there, preferably for 2-3 days.

The owner of the bike we rented warned us that it was not advisable to go on long trips (Dalat 150 km, Mui Ne 250 km), because when meeting with the police, the moped on other people's numbers would definitely be stopped and could be put on a fine site, and he would have to go pick him up. Therefore, we performed long trips on an exotic sleep bass, and we already rented new "wheels" on the spot.

We met with representatives of the traffic police only in the suburbs of Mui Ne on the way to the white dunes, they chicly settled down in the shade behind sharp turn. They brought with them and put two desks on the side of the road and sat at them filling out documents. There were just not enough table lamps. Handsome! Next to the obligatory tow truck.

Our group of 3 bikes going to the desert were checked for documents. For lack of rights, two drivers were threatened with a large fine of 800,000 - 1,500,000 dong ($ 35-66). We were saved by 200,000 ($9) from each violator. We were so happy that we forgot to take pictures of law enforcement officers on the roads of Vietnam for history.

To make a tour route, copy the coordinates of the object of interest to Google maps and build a route. Along the way, visit nearby attractions. Spend 20 minutes collecting information and your day will be eventful and unforgettable.

Let's talk about the districts of Nha Trang, in which district of Nha Trang it is better to choose a hotel for recreation, and in which to stay for a long time. Properly chosen area is one of the keys to a successful holiday and a comfortable life! 🙂

Districts of Nha Trang

Officially, Nha Trang is divided into 28 districts, I will not paint each of them, I will schematically mark on the map and describe only those areas that will be of interest to tourists, winterers and long-livers in terms of renting housing: a hotel, apartment or house.

There are four main districts in Nha Trang:

  • Southern region - number 1 on the map
  • North of Nha Trang - number 2 on the map
  • Central region - number 3
  • Vinh Diem Trung or simply the area near the Big C supermarket - number 4

Below in the article I will talk about each of them 🙂

Districts of Nha Trang on the map

Nha Trang districts are marked on the map

Southern region

South Nha Trang is considered an area in the south of the city near the cable car to Vimperl and the gated community of An Vien. The advantage of this area is silence and tranquility 🙂 And the minus is the almost complete lack of infrastructure. There is a small shop, a couple of cafes, but for everything else you have to go to the city center. Therefore, there is nothing to do without a bike in the south of Nha Trang. During the day, you can get to the center or north by bus number 4, and in the evening you will have to take a taxi.

V cottage village An Vien houses villas and houses of wealthy Vietnamese. The territory is closed, well-groomed, constantly guarded. In An Vien, you can rent a house from $500 per month or live on a mountain near the villages in apartments - from $250 per month.

Villas in the cottage village of An Vien

On the territory of An Vien is located, which belongs to the hotel of the same name. This is a small beach closed by a breakwater, such a small puddle of salt water forms in the sea (for me it is a depressing sight 🙁). But when it is impossible to swim in the center of Nha Trang due to strong waves, Paragon Beach remains quite bathable. Due to the constantly calm sea, this area of Nha Trang is often chosen by families with small children.

Paragon Beach - a shallow beach without waves, closed by a breakwater

Hotels and apartments in the south of Nha Trang (An Vien)

  • An Vien Villamar Apartments - great budget apartments near Paragon Beach
  • Verano Hotel - a new quiet hotel in the An Vien area
  • Praywish Hotel - budget hotel with pool
  • Paragon Villa Hotel - hotel with pool and private beach
  • ViVa Villa An Vien Nha Trang - four bedroom villas

North of Nha Trang

North Nha Trang - the area behind Cape Hon Chong. This area is still not very well developed infrastructure, although small shops and cafes are present here and there are much more of them than in the south of Nha Trang. Most of the hotels are quite close to the beach, just across the road. The beach in the north of Nha Trang is shallow and less prone to storms than the Nha Trang beach in the city center.

The best stretch of beach in the north of Nha Trang

The north of Nha Trang is often chosen by centenarians, especially families with children. Here, low prices for long-term rent, you can rent not only apartments or apartments, but often there are offers for renting houses for a long period (from 6 months). Popular complexes among centenarians are U Plaza Nha Tchanag and Muong Thanh apartments, a spacious apartment with a kitchen where you can rent for 400 - 800 dollars a month.

Hotels in the north of the city and U Plaza Nha Trang, popular with winterers

Best hotels in Nha Trang North

  • Thanh Binh 2 Hotel - an inexpensive hotel just across the road from the best part of the north beach
  • The Seasing Boutique Hotel is a brand new 4-star hotel with a rooftop pool, a great bar and a restaurant with delicious food. The best value for money for hotels in the north of Nha Trang
  • Tri Giao Hotel - a new inexpensive four-star hotel with a gorgeous sea view

Details about the northern district of Nha Trang here:

The area near the Big C supermarket

Area Vinh Diem Trung often called the area near Big C, because. It is located next to this supermarket. There is absolutely no reason for vacationers to stay here, but centenarians should consider this area for living for the following reasons:

  • Large selection of long term accommodation
  • For $250-400 a month, you can rent a new, well-equipped apartment, maybe even a two-bedroom apartment.
  • The district is for wealthy Vietnamese and, accordingly, the contingent lives here
  • Infrastructure is well developed, more and more cafes and restaurants are opening
  • The area is very quiet

The only disadvantage of the Vinh Diem Trung area is the distance from the sea about 3.5 km, but when you live in the country for more than a year, you rarely go to the sea 🙂

Districts of Nha Trang: central district

Central Nha Trang I will conditionally divide into several sub-districts:

  • The area opposite Gorky Park (Central Park) - marked "1"
  • Military hospital area - "2"
  • Nha Trang European District - "3"
  • Xom Moi market area - "4"
  • Business center - "5"

Schematically marked areas in the center of Nha Trang

Gorky Park area

The area opposite the Gorky Park restaurant or Central Park is very popular with our tourists. Perhaps they are attracted by the name of the park? 🙂 Although it is still more likely that it is in the hotels located in this area that our tour operators sell the most vouchers.

Across the road from the hotels is Central Park, where, in addition to restaurants (one of them is called Gorky Park), there are children's and adult pools, a walking path along the sea, a beach where you can rent sun loungers, free showers and toilets. And three restaurants with high (on my opinion) prices.

The downside of the Gorky Park area is that this part of the beach is very crowded! There are too many of our compatriots and it seems that you are somewhere in the Crimea or Anapa 🙂

There are not as many shops and cafes in the Gorky Park area as in the European district of Nha Trang, but still much more than in the north and south of Nha Trang. Prices for everything in the Gorky Park area, in my opinion, are a bit overpriced compared to the European area. For example, even in the A-Mart chain store, water here costs 20% more. But it will not be difficult to reach the European quarter - the distance is less than a kilometer! But you will have to get to the nearest market or supermarket only by transport.

I advise families with children to choose the Gorky Park area: even if there are strong waves in the sea, you can always swim in the pool.

Gorky park area, walking path along the beach. On the one hand the sea, on the other pools and restaurants
Well maintained path along the beach
Swimming pool in the park

There are many hotels in this area, prices are slightly higher than in the European quarter, but the level of hotels is higher. Many hotels in Nha Trang in the Gorky Park area with rooftop pools and excellent sea views from the rooms. I recommend best hotels in this area in terms of price-quality ratio:

I can’t say anything about long-term housing in the Gorky Park area, we were not looking for housing in this part of the city, and there are no streets - there are no lanes, almost immediately after the first line the territory of the old airport begins.

military hospital area

Quiet area very close to the European quarter, at night the noise is heard only from neighboring apartments, and not music from bars-restaurants. Opposite this area across the road is our favorite area - the beach near, there is also a toilet and shower. For some reason, this particular part of the beach is always less crowded and even Europeans meet here!

We live in this area of Nha Trang. There are literally a couple of cafes that we managed to get around in the first days, but we didn’t particularly like the food anywhere. There is no A-Mart and the like here, but there are several small shops with everything you need. We go to the European quarter to have dinner, drink coffee and buy fruits, since it’s only 3 minutes to go 🙂

But our favorite Xom Moi market is almost 2 km away! Once we walked there for shrimp and realized that it’s not worth doing anymore, it’s better to ride a bike 🙂 Also, the path to all supermarkets is not close, you can still walk to the Natrang center, and to all other large stores only by transport.

Our favorite stretch of beach

Hotels in Nha Trang

With long-term housing near the military hospital, the situation is strange: on the one hand, it was here that we found several more or less suitable options for us at a price of 300-400 dollars a month, and on the other hand, it was in this area that we heard “Full ”, i.e. most apartments and apartments were occupied or free only for one month, and not for the entire period we needed.

The European district of Nha Trang is the most touristic and lively area of the city. It is here that you will find everything you need: cafes and restaurants with Vietnamese, Russian, Chinese, European, Italian, etc. etc. food, bars, clothing stores, A-Mart and Perekrestok minimarkets, pharmacies, fruit stands, massage parlors - in general, everything that tourists (and not only!) need for life. From the European quarter, you can quickly walk to the Xom Moi market, the Nha Trang Center shopping center and even the Maksimark supermarket.

The European region conditionally begins near Hotel Star City Nha Trang and ends near the Lotus Tower. For reference, the first, second and third lines of the European quarter are distinguished. When they explain how to get somewhere in the European region, they say so: on the second line behind the intersection or on the third line around the corner 🙂

Across the road from the European district of Nha Trang, a green square with benches, gazebos and exercise equipment is equipped. The Sailing Club Bar is located on the seashore. On the beach there are sunbeds and umbrellas (some of them belong to hotels in the European quarter) that can be rented for VND 50,000 - 100,000. The beach here is wide and quite clean, but the closer to the Lotus tower, the more crowded and noisy. Near the beach there are paid showers and toilets.

The entire tourist infrastructure is concentrated in the European region of Nha Trang. Due to high competition prices for all low

Green embankment across the road
Nha Trang City Beach in the European Quarter

Nha Trang hotels in European district

Most of the hotels in Nha Trang are concentrated in the European quarter. Many hotels in Nha Trang in the European region are built close to each other; in cheap hotels, the room may not have a window or have a view of the neighboring wall. But here you can rent a room even for 8-10 dollars per night! And also there are excellent 4-star hotels, some of them at a ridiculous price.

Le Van Tam Park is located near the Museum of Military History, a quarter of an hour drive from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. This well maintained and clean park has interesting story creation and naming.

There was an old French cemetery here, where, however, high-ranking figures of South Vietnam were buried, including President Ngo Dinh Diem, who was overthrown in 1963. Converting a cemetery into a park was no easy task. Members of Vietnamese families received notices to rebury the dead within two months. Unclaimed remains were cremated. The graves of the French military were returned to France.

So in 1983, a park appeared here, which was named after the young patriot Le Van Tam. His feat during the first Indochinese war shocked the whole city and remained in the history of the Resistance. A small boy selling peanuts in the port of Saigon doused himself with gasoline, set himself on fire and ran into the port's fuel and ammunition depot. The guards at the entrance were confused at the sight of a child on fire, and he managed to get inside. The explosion was so powerful that many thought it was an earthquake.

After the unification of the country, schools, streets and cinemas were named after the torch boy. It is quite right that the park on the site of the French cemetery was also named after the legendary fighter against the French invaders. There is a monument to him in the park.

Today, Le Van Tam Park serves as a place for mass sports. In the mornings it is full of townspeople. They go out for runs, badminton, aerobics, kung fu, tai chi, just walking. During the day, elderly people and mothers with children come here to take a walk in the fresh air in a green oasis in the middle of the city. And in the evening, rock and roll of the sixties and seventies sounds here. People of all ages come to listen and dance.
