Airbus A321- a medium-haul jet aircraft capable of taking on board up to 220 passengers and transporting them to a distance of 5,950 km.

The Airbus A321 is a seven-meter (44.51 m) version of the aircraft. The first flight of the prototype (A321-100) took place in 1993.

In 1994, DASA, a member of the Airbus Industry consortium, proposed to start developing the A321-200 modification with an increased take-off weight and a longer flight range.

In April 1995, the German airline Aero Lloyd ordered the first aircraft, designated A321-200. It differed from the original model by the placement in the tail cargo compartment of an additional fuel tank with a capacity of 2900 liters. The Airbus A321-200 made its first flight in December 1996.

More than two decades have passed since the appearance of the А321 model, but the aircraft is constantly being modernized in accordance with the requirements of the time. Airbus is currently offering a new modification of the A321neo with more powerful and efficient engines, as well as an improved wing design.

The main competitor of the Airbus A321 is.

The Airbus A321-100 airliners entered service in early 1994 and are currently the largest members of the A320 family. A321 received an elongated fuselage compared to other models in the series, and at the same time increased passenger capacity. Aircraft of the A320 family are renowned for their spacious passenger compartment with roomy cabinets for carry-on luggage, high cargo capacity on the lower deck and wide hatches for loading luggage. Their serial production is located in Hamburg-Finkenwerder (Germany) and Toulouse (France).

A bit of history

The initial version of the А321-100 did not cope with the creation of competition for the American Boeing 757-200 aircraft, as a result of which in 1994 the German company DASA, a member of the Airbus Industrie consortium, came up with an initiative for an improved version of the airliner with increased takeoff weight and flight range. The updated version was offered to airlines serving long flights in the European region, as well as to companies making non-stop flights connecting the east and west coasts of the United States.

A321 in the air

The A321-200, as a result of the revision of its predecessor, acquired a longer flight range and take-off weight. The modification of the “hundredth” model took two years: from 1994 to 1996. This was necessary to compete with Boeing. Thanks to its characteristics and reliability, this aircraft still looks worthy even among its younger counterparts.

Note! The A321 has the lowest estimated cost of covering one km per passenger of any narrow-body aircraft due to its fuel economy and large cabin capacity, which means that it is cheaper for any traveler to travel each kilometer in the A321 than on other narrow-body aircraft.

Despite the rather long period of time since the start of production of the A321, this model is still being finalized and modernized, adjusting its characteristics to the modern requirements of the aircraft industry. The company is currently actively working on the commissioning of improved powertrains for the A321. The modernization course is held under the name New Engine Option; in the future, the liners are planned to be supplied with CFM International LEAP-X and Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines. Their feature can be considered an additional 16% fuel saved, but the actual data is usually slightly less than the declared ones, since often when upgrading an existing model, these values are somewhat lower. The use of improved engines, according to preliminary calculations, should increase the maximum possible length of the voyage by 950 km, and the maximum lifting weight - by 2 tons.

Interesting to know! To increase the flight range and reduce operating costs for the A320 model range, within the framework of the NEO program, special modifications for the wings - sharkle are installed. Their prototype - winglets were first used exclusively on Boeing aircraft, starting with the 1985 model 747-400. After careful analysis and refinement of the winglet shape, Airbus patented its design under the original name Sharklets.

Aircraft characteristics

For an optimal assessment and the correct choice of the best seats in the cabin of the liner, it is worth knowing in advance how many rows are available on the plane and studying the corresponding layout diagram of the vessel, which is assigned to the desired flight. However, almost any liner layout can be used to determine quality seats.

The physical dimensions of the Airbus A321 cabin allow accommodating from 170 passengers in a cabin consisting of two classes, or up to 220 people, provided that seats of the same class are used, which is quite enough for charter and low-cost flights, in addition, it should be borne in mind that the length of flights of this model can reach 5500 km.

In total, about a dozen different modifications of the Airbus А321 were created, which are designed for flights differing in duration and number of seats belonging to different classes. For example, for low-cost or charter flights, the stock equipment is converted in order to increase the cabin capacity, as a result of which the economy class expands to 220 seats. In this configuration, the entire cab is one class.

Who operates the A321

Schemes А321

Particularly popular is the Airbus A321 cabin layout, which Aeroflot, well-known to all, prefers to use.

Scheme 1

1-7 rows. These are seats that are classified as business class, but it is worth noting that the first and seventh rows among them provide minimal convenience. This is due to the fact that a wall of technical rooms is located in front of the first row of seats and a toilet cubicle is located literally next to it, and the seventh row borders on a noisy economy class, which can be a cause of inconvenience. Therefore, when choosing seats in the "business" category, it is worth choosing tickets closer to the center of the class.

8 row. The best budget seats, due to the additional free space due to the location of the emergency exit in front of this row. Therefore, they are deservedly called the most comfortable economy-class seats of all available on the liner of this model, an additional advantage will be their placement at the beginning of the cabin, because, as you know, passengers are serviced in the direction from the first rows to the last. This implies a much larger assortment of food and drinks compared to the rest of the passengers.

9-17 rows. Ordinary budget category seats, without any differences.

Row 18. Places in this row are also referred to as standard, only toilets nearby interfere, as a result of which discomfort may appear due to the constant movement of passengers and crowds of people who want to visit the toilet, which creates unnecessary stress and will not only be distracting, but also, possibly, annoying.

19 row. In all respects, this row is identical in convenience to the eighth row. There is also free legroom here, but the close proximity of the latrines makes this row much less convenient.

20 row. The places located here are worth noting as quite comfortable. The attractiveness of this row is due not only to the free legroom, but also to the opportunity to enjoy the panoramas of the earth's surface opening outside the windows immediately after departure.

In row 30 (seats C and D) - all the inconveniences are due to the proximity to the toilet.

31 row. The 31st row in the Airbus deserves special attention: in addition to the unpleasant sensations caused by the close placement of toilets to the passenger seats, it is also impossible to adjust the inclination of the seat back, since there is a partition behind it.

Important! Tickets for this row are bought last, in the absence of other options, since they are considered the most unfortunate seats on the plane.

Scheme 2

The next cabin layout for the Airbus A321 is a similar layout - 16 business class seats and 167 economy class seats on board. This arrangement of classes is the second most popular in Aeroflot, in particular, it is used on the following liners:

  • VP-BJX;
  • VP-BEW;
  • VP-BKI;
  • VP-BAE;
  • VP-BAF;
  • VP-BAY;
  • VP-BJX;
  • VP-BAZ;
  • VP-BFF;
  • VP-BJX;
  • VP-BFQ;
  • VP-BFK;
  • VP-BJX;
  • VP-BFX;
  • VP-BJX;
  • VP-BKQ.

Scheme 3

The third cabin configuration is almost identical to the previous one, but less common - it is used on only 6 Aeroflot aircraft: VP-BAV, VP-BAX, VP-BEG, VP-BES, VP-BEA, VP-BEE.

Scheme 4

Airbus 321-200 is also operated by such an airline as Nordwind Airlines. It uses a version with a single-class cabin, which can carry 220 people - such aircraft are often used for short and medium distances and on flights with an average passenger traffic.

The same modification is used by Red Wings and Ural Airlines. The latter has about 15 Airbus A321 aircraft with such a cabin layout. Travelers who often use the services of these airlines, it is advisable to consider in detail the plan of the aircraft and determine the seats in the Airbus A 321 where the passenger will be most comfortable during the flight.

Note! On the official website of Ural Airlines, the layout of the Airbus 321 is not very convenient - it does not indicate the numbers and letter designations of the seats, therefore, further features are considered using the example of Airbus A321, the layout of the Nord Wind airline.

Row 1 has both positive and negative sides. There is a wall in front, which makes it a little difficult to adopt a comfortable position of the legs, but it should also be noted that this is the first row, accordingly, there will be no person who has reclined the seat. The close proximity of the galley and toilet adds to these inconveniences, but passenger service starts from here.

9F and 23F row. The backs of the seats cannot be adjusted due to the partition located behind them, which causes some discomfort - it is not very convenient to be in an upright position during the entire flight.

10 and 24 A, B, C. The situation is similar to the ninth row, but here it is due to the location of the emergency exit immediately behind the seats.

10 and 24 D, E. The backrests of the seats also cannot be lowered, but these rows contain 2 instead of 3 seats, which can be considered a plus, especially for those traveling together.

Rows 11 and 25 are considered the most convenient. They are located immediately after the emergency exits, which creates free space. Thanks to this, it becomes possible not only to recline the back of your chair, to take a comfortable position of your legs, but also to easily leave your seat, practically without causing any discomfort to the companions.

Important! Not all categories of passengers may be located in these places: tickets will not be sold to the elderly, disabled people, as well as people traveling with children and animals. In addition, it is forbidden to obstruct the passageways to the emergency doors, so all luggage will have to be placed at the top - this is due to the safety requirements on the plane.

Row 36, seats C and D. The location is adjacent to the toilets, which is why small queues are formed near these places in the uburnaya. Often, the toilets at the end of the salon are used by both the middle and rear saloons, which is a fairly large number of people.

37 is the last row. These places are rightfully considered the most inconvenient, which is explained by the locked backs of the chairs, as well as the inconvenience associated with the close location of the toilet.

In general, the A321 Airbus is a very comfortable airliner, which is why more than a hundred airlines operate it. When choosing seats, you need to adhere to general recommendations: first, study the layout of the aircraft, do not buy tickets in the back or near technical rooms, and do not choose seats whose back does not recline. If you follow these tips, then even the longest flight will be comfortable and invisible.

What is the Airbus A321, where to see the layout of the cabin, how to choose the best seats in Aeroflot - hardly anyone thought about these questions when buying tickets.

In recent years, passenger air transportation has become increasingly popular. Of course, it is more convenient and reliable than traveling by land. And you can save time, especially if you urgently need to get somewhere.

The demanded airliner of Aeroflot is Airbus А321. People who travel a little do not know what kind of plane it is and what kind of comfort awaits them. But, as with other planes, the main thing is to choose the right places to travel.

Consider the advantages and disadvantages of flying on the A321 liner, the layout of the Aeroflot company cabin, the modification of the Airbus and the best seats.

Description of Airbus А321 and its technical characteristics

Airbus А321-200

The plane is passenger. He became the next model after the A320.

It appeared on Russian airlines in 1994. The main developer is Airbus.

But, despite the fact that the liner has been produced for more than a decade, its production continues to this day. This is due to the reliability of the aircraft and the high demand for use in passenger transportation.

There are two Airbus А321 models, which is confirmed by Wikipedia, they have different modifications - А321-100 and А321-200:

  1. А321-100 was developed by the company's employees in 1993. In the same year, the plane took off into the sky and passed its certification. Since the plane has proven itself on the positive side, in 1993 it began to be mass-produced. And, importantly, airbuses of this modification are produced to this day.
  2. А321-200 with increased take-off weight, as well as increased flight range. The liner was developed for two years from 1994 to 1996. Initially, it was created as a competitor to the Boeing liner, the customer who first bought the plane was a German company. They ordered the plane even before it was put into mass production. Considering reliable technical characteristics, the aircraft is still being produced today.

Liner specifications:

  1. In flight, it reaches a speed of 890 km / h.
  2. The flight range with a maximum load is 6,000 km without refueling.
  3. The maximum A321 can rise to an altitude of 11,900 km.
  4. The engine installed on the aircraft is produced by Airbus and belongs to the CFMI CFM56-5A / 5B modification.
  5. The wingspan is 34.1 meters.
  6. The height of the aircraft is about 12 meters.
  7. The cockpit of aircraft of various modifications practically does not differ from one another. Thanks to this, pilots can change from one to another without any problems.
  8. The plane is 44.51 meters long.
  9. In flight, it shows fairly decent performance, since the fuel consumption is minimal.
  10. The liners are equipped with reliable engines, and therefore each passenger can be calm about their safety in flight.

Its useful to note: In 2015, Airbus was redesigned and new engines were installed on the aircraft, giving even greater confidence in comfort and safety.

The main distinguishing feature of Airbus aircraft is that all cockpits are made according to the same principle. Therefore, it is enough for a pilot to complete one course, and after that he can operate a passenger airliner, and then a cargo one.

Location of seats

Aeroflot uses two types of Airbus A321 for passenger transportation. How many seats are there? One is economy class and is designed for 220 seats, and the second combines business class and economy class seats. This liner is designed for 185 passenger seats. Consider the location of the seats in the Airbus 321 two-class layout, since this type is in high demand.

Seat map in Airbus А321 by modifications

As in other aircraft, the business class is located in the bow of the airliner. According to the Airbus Industrie А321 scheme, the business class is the ranks from the first to the seventh. The seats are actually worth choosing, since the distance between the seats is large enough to pass freely. In addition, the chairs themselves are more comfortable and the menu is more varied.

The most popular are the seats that are near the window or porthole. This is due to the fact that passers-by do not bother vacationers. And of course - an unforgettable view from the window.

But, in business class there are seats that are not entirely successful for passengers, and this can be seen in the photo of the cabin of Airbus 321. For example, seats on the first and seventh rows. This is due to the fact that the first row is located close to the toilets, and the seventh row is located next to the office premises. As a result, there will be a constant movement of passengers and personnel. Also, given the proximity of the location, the light will constantly be on both day and night, so it is unlikely that you will be able to get enough sleep. The seventh row is also not worth choosing, since immediately behind it is the partition leading to the economy class. Therefore, the sounds coming from the adjacent cabin will not allow you to rest in flight.

We pass to the economy class salon. Looking at it, we can immediately say that the location of the seats in the Airbus A321 of this type is not very convenient. First, there is only one passage, and the seats are located three in a row. There are seats from 8 to 31. But despite the fact that these seats are of a lower class, the seats themselves are quite comfortable and practically do not differ from the first salon.

Note: when choosing seats in Economy Class, opt for row 8 seats. This is due to the fact that only the partition remains in front of the seats. They are especially convenient for tall people, since there is where to stretch your legs.

You can also opt for seats in the 20th row with the designations A and F. There is also a large space in front of the seats.

We have considered more convenient places. But, like in the other liner, there are unfortunate places here that you shouldn't buy tickets for. These are places located in the row 19 and 18, 31. They are also located next to the toilet, so you should not stop your choice.

We have decided on the choice of places. Let's see what they say about the advantages and disadvantages of the A321.

How to choose the right seats in the Airbus А321

General recommendations on how to choose the best seats:

  1. In order to proceed to the choice of a seat, focusing on the layout of the seats of the Airbus 321, it is enough to start deciding in which class you will fly.
  2. If this is an economy class, then you should not choose seats in the last row, and the seats located next to the aisle are not quite suitable if you plan to relax on the flight.
  3. When choosing seats in business class, you should not stop at the first row seats, since, given the high traffic, you will not be able to spend your time in flight calmly.
  4. In addition, when choosing seats, be sure to pay attention to how much you are willing to spend on buying a ticket. Business class is much more expensive than economy class. Therefore, places in places, but also on the financial side of the issue should not be forgotten.

Based on the plan of the Airbus 321, you will be able to make the right choice.

Airbus А321 positive and negative points

First, about the merits:

  • despite the fact that the first airliner was launched off the assembly line more than 20 years ago, its main advantage is its excellent performance, above all, flight performance;
  • the carrying capacity is quite decent compared to other aircraft;
  • sufficient passenger capacity;
  • the passenger compartment is quite spacious;
  • high sound insulation allows you to relax in flight and enjoy the flight.

In fact, the liner is comfortable, comfortable, quiet and comfortable in it.

But among the positive qualities, there are also negative ones. One of them is that its first release was many years ago. That is why a large number of competitors have appeared in modern aircraft construction, which can compete both in terms of comfort and technical characteristics.

Despite the fact that in the modern world of airliners there is a large selection, most often passengers opt for the A321 series aircraft. It is in it that you can sit comfortably.

In addition, if you use Aeroflot's services, you get a number of benefits:

  • the professionalism of the pilots and personnel is striking;
  • the cost of tickets is more favorable than in commercial companies;
  • due to the correct approach to their duties, employees provide their passengers with greater reliability and comfort.

When choosing comfortable seats for your trip, pay attention to the Airbus 321 seating scheme. After all, how you will spend your time in flight depends on the right choice.

Watch the video explaining how to choose the best seat on the plane:

The Ural Airlines fleet includes 35 aircraft, 10 of which are A321. They are the largest of the 320 Airbus family. This is a narrow-body aircraft, depending on the needs of the airline, it can have a different cabin configuration. A321 of Ural Airlines can accommodate 220 economy class passenger seats. As with any plane, there are good and bad ones among them. It is important to choose the most optimal travel option for yourself. This can be done using the Ural Airlines Airbus A321 cabin layout.

Characteristics of places

The Ural airlines airbus A321 has 38 rows. Most have 3 seats on either side of the aisle.

1st row: the places in it have their pros and cons:

  • In airplanes of this configuration, they are located close to partitions, a kitchen or a toilet. For this reason, it can get quite noisy here, and food smells will reach your place. In addition, it is not entirely comfortable to look at the wall in front of you during the entire flight time.
  • On a positive note, sitting in the 1st row you will have enough legroom so that none of the passengers in front will throw their back of the passenger seat on you.

10th row: it is located directly in front of the 1st emergency exit. This means that you will have to sit strictly upright for the entire flight, since such seats do not recline. This fact is caused by security issues. In the event of a critical situation on board, the reclined backrests can obstruct access to the emergency exit.

11th row: located at some distance from the previous one for similar reasons. There is enough space in front to comfortably stretch your legs, to stand up without disturbing your neighbors. In addition, there are only 2 seats in this row on either side of the aisle - ideal for couples traveling.

There are several inconveniences:

  • There are no windows near these places.
  • The tables are located on the armrests, for this reason they cannot be moved.
  • Carry-on baggage must not be placed in the aisle and on the floor.
  • Due to the proximity of these seats to the emergency exit, it is forbidden to fly on them for passengers with animals or children, people of old age or with disabilities.

Despite their minor flaws, they are considered one of the best places on the Ural Airlines Airbus A321.

12th row(seats near the windows): comfortable because there are no other seats in front of them.

25th row: Has the same restrictions as the seats in the 10th. But a significant plus can be considered the fact that there are only 2 seats here. With all the minuses, for couples this is the best option.

26th row: the pros, cons and restrictions in it are identical to those in the 11th row. Plenty of free space to comfortably position your feet. You can get up without disturbing others. These seats are among the best seats in the cabin. However, seats near the windows may lack one armrest due to the proximity of the emergency exit.

37th row aisle seat on the right: inconvenient due to the close location of the toilet. Other passengers will walk here all the time, squeeze along the aisle, touching you, a queue may form.

Seats on the left side of the 37th and 38th row: located directly next to the toilet. All sounds from there, the constant movement of people and the slamming of doors will prevent you from enjoying the flight. Moreover, there are partitions behind the backs, because of which they do not recline and you will have to be in an upright position during the entire flight.

The rest of the seats in the cabin are considered standard.

The best places for those who are afraid to fly

For people suffering from aerophobia, it is especially important to inquire in advance about the location of the seats in the cabin. You need to choose an option in which you can feel safe during the flight. As a rule, in this case, places near the emergency exit are suitable. According to the Ural Airlines airbus A321 cabin layout, these are rows 10, 11, 12, 25 and 26.

Recommendation! Before buying air tickets, you need to decide in advance which seats you would like to take: at the aisle or near the window. In the first case, it will be convenient to get up when needed, without disturbing anyone. This is especially important when flying with children who often need to go to the toilet. However, these seats have their drawbacks: passengers and flight attendants who will move along the aisle can cause you certain inconveniences. In addition, you always have to let those who sit closer to the window through. Especially if the flight is long. In turn, the seats near the window can be attractive for those who like to watch the flight through them. But it won't matter if you are traveling at night.

Airbus А321 is the most unique and comfortable passenger airliner of the А320 series. Today there are many complete sets of this aircraft, all of them are designed for different flight durations and passenger capacity.

The passenger plane is manufactured in France and is designed for the A321 flight range up to 5.5 thousand km. It has a capacity of 185 passenger seats, of which 16 are reserved for increased comfort seats and 169 economy class seats.

There are several cab configurations:

  • one-class cabin - includes up to 220 economy class seats;
  • two-class cabin - includes business and economy class with a capacity of 185 seats;
  • charter version - capacity up to 220 seats.

Airplane А321 200

To understand the location of all the seats and choose the most comfortable ones, you should consider the layout of the A321 cabin.

1-7 row business class. Of the seven rows, the first and seventh are the most uncomfortable. This is due to the fact that the first is close to the bathroom, and the seventh is next to the economy class.

8 row economy class. The eighth row is the most comfortable seat of the entire economy class. The row is located near the emergency exit, so there is a lot of empty space. Also, these places are good because you will be the first to get to serving drinks and light food.

9 - 17 row. The most common seats for ordinary passengers of the Airbus A321.

Row 18. The disadvantage of these places is that they are located near toilets. What may be causing discomfort.

19 row. This row is similar to the eighth, as it is located near the emergency exit. But there is a restroom nearby, which affects comfort.

20 row. It is a great seat with plenty of legroom and open portholes.

30 row (seats C-D)... They are inconvenient places due to the close location of the restroom.

31 row. The most uncomfortable seats on the plane. This is due to the close location of the toilet and the wall, which will prevent the chairs from expanding. Therefore, during the flight you will be in the same position.

Airbus А321 100/200 airplane design

This aircraft belongs to the family of narrow-body passenger airliners. The design of the A321 has contributed to a 25% increase in seats over the previous model.

In business class there are 4 seats in a row.

All seats have increased comfort. In economy class there are 6 seats in a row. The liner has a reinforced landing gear, low noise and emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

The model includes additional fuel tanks and powerful engines. There are 4 passenger and 4 emergency exits on board. The design of the aircraft is conducive to taking weight up to 94 thousand kg.

Wing model A321 Sharklets

Passenger liner А321 has a unique Sharklets wing model Shark fin, which allows to increase the maximum weight of the transported cargo by 2 tons, to increase the flight range by 900 km.

But the main feature of this wing is the increased fuel economy, which is up to 3.5%. The characteristics of acceleration and cruising speed have been increased.

Modifications А321Airbus

There are two modifications of the A321 passenger airliner. In general, they do not have major changes in the characteristics and design of aircraft structures.

Model А321 100- designed for short flight range.

Model А321 200- additional fuel tanks and powerful engines are installed. This version is designed for long-distance flights.

Model А321neo - is the most recent modification of this model. The liner has modern equipment, new powerful engines, and more rounded Sharklets. Construction of А321neo is planned for 2018.

This version was developed in 1993 and is the very first modification of the A321. Certification and first flight were carried out in the same year.

The aircraft is equipped with V2500 engines at 146.8 kN or CFM56 at 142.3 kN. Serial production began in 1993 and continues to this day.

Airbus A321-200

Airbus А321-200 is a later modification of А321.

The development of the model began in 1994 and ended only in 1996. The 200 was created to compete with the Boeing 757 passenger jet.

The new version was equipped with additional fuel tanks and new, more powerful engines. This made it possible to increase the flight range and take-off weight of the aircraft. Serial production continues to this day.

Airbus A321 Control

Two pilots take part in the management of the A321 passenger airliner. The control is carried out using the French digital complex Efis.

This complex includes 6 large-format multifunctional displays, which display all flight and navigation information.

Also, this system monitors all malfunctions and displays them on displays, which allows pilots to receive detailed information about the flight and the state of the 321 aircraft.
