Pattaya is the most popular resort in Thailand. Despite the fact that it is located on the mainland, you can still see the phrase "Pattaya Island" on the Internet. It is not clear who writes such articles, one thing is for sure - these people have never been here. known since the 60s of the last century (read about the resort), famous for its low prices and a large selection of entertainment (including nightlife).
It's another matter if you use the phrase “ Pattaya islands". Indeed, at some distance from the resort there are small and big islands where you can hit the road to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and swim in the clear sea. They can be divided into near and far. The first are Ko Lan, Ko Sichang, Ko Krok, Ko Sak, Ko Phai and other small islands. The second are the islands of Ko Chang, Ko Samet, Ko Kood, Ko Wai and Ko Mak. So which islands are worth visiting from Pattaya?
Near Pattaya Islands
The nearest islands near Pattaya are Ko Lan, Ko Sichang, Ko Krok, Ko Sak, Ko Phai. The first two, in principle, can be considered independent resorts because there are hotels there, which means you can live the whole vacation. All others are for day trips, diving, snorkeling and fishing.

The sea is very clean, the beaches are half empty (especially the southern ones, far from the pier). You can come here for a week, a month, a year - there will be no problems with housing, food and entertainment: bars, restaurants, fire shows, Thai boxing.

Completely "ready to eat", there are hotels, shops, small markets, banks, restaurants, massage parlors, bars (including girls), fire shows in the evenings, live music, Full Moon Parties at Lonely Beach (disco under open air, like the one that takes place on Koh Phangan). It makes sense to come here for at least a few days. The sea is clean, there are few people, in some parts of the coast there is no one at all. There is a rental of motorbikes and kayak boats. Motor sports are practically absent, as they follow the environment.

Lan
The island remains popular among Pattaya tourists, despite the "pop" and dominance of the citizens of the Celestial Empire.
How to get there:
- By ferry from Bali Hai pier... One-way ticket price is 30 baht, travel time is about 30 minutes. From Pattaya, ferries run from 7:00 to 17:00 with a half hour break, from Lana the last ferry leaves at 18:00. Please note: despite the timetable, ships sail as soon as they are full. They arrive at one of the two piers. If you go to Ta Waen, you will immediately find yourself on a beach covered with Chinese. And next to the pier Na Ban is a village with a shop "7/11".
- Private boat for 150 baht round trip including drink. From Pattaya, ships depart at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 and 13:30, and return at 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00.
- Speedboat from 500 baht. But you will have to wait until you have 12-15 people, which sometimes takes time. The second minus is a strong pitching.

Booking.com and agoda.com have a good selection of hotels from THB 1,100, but if you want to save a few hundred, look for guesthouses in the hamlet near Na Ban Pier. And the most budget option will rent a sun lounger on the beach for 100 baht or even put up a tent.

The island is underestimated by both tourists and expats, although it is located very close to Pattaya. Ko Sichang is "three in one": clean sea, great attractions, mainland prices.
Our goal is a ledge on the map marked as " Koh Loi Park". From there, ferries to Sichang run from about 7:00 to 19:00. The ticket price is 50 baht one way. You can get to the pier as follows:
- on your own transport. The distance from Pattaya to Koh Loi is about 35 km, the road will take about 50 minutes. There is a convenient parking for cars and bikes;
- we leave on Sukhumvit and catch a songteo or minibus passing in the direction of Bangkok. We say "Sriracha" and prepare to pay about 40 baht. You will be dropped off at the Robinson shopping center. From there, take a motorcycle taxi to the Ko Loi pier, which will cost you 50 baht.
Where to stay
Booking.com offers a choice of rooms from 700 baht / night, on site you can find a guesthouse for a hundred or two cheaper. You can live in a village (for example, in Charlie’s Bungalow from 1000 baht), where restaurants, temples and "7/11" are close at hand, but the beach is 3 km away. Or stay right on the shore (Tam Pang Resort) if infrastructure is not important to you.
What to see:
- the former residence of Rama V - the embankment and beautiful museum houses in a picturesque landscape;
- observation deck with the footprint of the Buddha;
- Chinese temple;
- "The cave of desires."
Moving around the island
You can rent a bike for 200-250 baht without a deposit or use the services of local "tukers" - sightseeing tour on the island they will offer for 250-300 baht. Short trips will cost 40-60 baht.

- Catch a minibus or a bus to Rayong on Sukhumvit, change there to a songteo to Ban Phe, then buy ferry tickets or hire a speedboat (from 1000 baht per person round trip).
- By ferry from Ban Phe (runs from 8:00 to 16:30).

Moving around the island:
- Renting a motorbike costs 250-300 baht, documents are asked as a deposit or 2000 baht. Roads are paved almost everywhere, so offroad tires are not needed.
- Quad bikes are available for rent (from 500 baht / hour and 1500 / day), as well as golf carts (from 500 baht / hour).
- From Na Dan pier to the beaches, tuk-tuk cost from 20 to 60 baht. But, firstly, you have to wait until there are enough passengers, and secondly, in order to get to the hotel later, you have to go out on the road and rely on chance.

Kood
The fourth largest island in Thailand, also located in Trat province near the Cambodian border. Kuda is often overlooked due to its underdeveloped infrastructure, but it is ideal for a relaxing break.

How to get there:
- From Pattaya, the most generally accepted way is the services of the same 35 group: 720 baht (both ends) cost a minibus + ferry, 1050 baht - delivery directly to the hotel on Chang. They will pick you up from your hotel in Pattaya at about 6 am.
- The mainland town of Trat, closest to the island, has an airport with local airlines. From there, a minibus will take you to your hotel for 500 baht.
- At Suvarnabhumi Airport, take a 600 baht minibus that runs three times a day at 8:00, 11:00 and 14:00. The price includes a ferry ticket.
- From the center of Trat to the pier is about 20 km, which can be traveled on a public songteo for 60 baht.
- The ferry runs from 6:00 to 19:00 hourly. One-way ticket for an adult is 80 baht. You can transport a motorbike for 50 baht, a car for 100 baht.
- You can order a yacht that will take you to Chang at non-standard times. To do this, contact the Siam Royal View Koh Chang Hotel. The trip will cost about 2,700 baht.
Where to stay
The choice of accommodation on the island is huge. If we talk about bungalows, then on the second line from the popular White Sand beach, the price of air-conditioned housing will be 600-800 baht / day. A completely Spartan version can be found from 300 baht.
