New rules for the carriage of baggage and hand luggage. Baggage and carry-on baggage allowances on Aeroflot flights

When traveling across countries, a tourist needs to take various things with him, distributing them in bags and suitcases.

Something he puts in the luggage compartment, some part he will need in the cabin of the plane.

Therefore, many people are interested in what constitutes hand luggage on an aircraft, its dimensions and weight.

What counts hand luggage in the airplane? Hand baggage is called luggage that you can take with you on board the aircraft.

There are additional passenger seats in the luggage compartment. For passengers of different classes, the airlines have established some restrictions on the transportation of baggage.

Carry-on baggage allowance:

  • economy class and tourist class - 1 additional seat;
  • business class and first class - 2 seats.

Additional space is provided to the passenger for more than one bag, the main thing is that the weight of several bags and their dimensions do not exceed the specified parameters. In this case, the passenger will pay for extra weight or extra seat.

In order to avoid conflict situations, it is better to familiarize yourself with the rules for the carriage of hand luggage before purchasing tickets on the airline's website.

According to the new rules, what can be taken in hand luggage on the plane? Under the new rules, it is allowed to take outerwear, umbrellas, a briefcase for documents, a folder for papers, a small handbag, books, mobile gadgets, as well as baby food, which can be transported in powder form, into the aircraft cabin.

Previously, these things were not equated with carry-on luggage. They were allowed to be transported separately from the luggage in the cabin.

So, what you can carry for free in the cabin of the aircraft:

It was decided not to exclude outerwear from the list, since it is difficult to fly in our northern country without fur coats and jackets.

In your carry-on luggage you can put documents and books, gadgets with removable batteries, food for snacks and candy, limited liquids, medicines for the child and baby food. The main thing is that the mass of this does not exceed the established 5 kg.

Such a baggage control system was introduced due to complaints from passengers about the lack of space in the aircraft cabin. This has a negative effect on the level of flight comfort, safety and punctuality of the flight.

What cannot be taken in hand luggage on the plane according to the new rules? It is forbidden to carry active weapons and toys that resemble them in the cabin.

Bans are also placed on the transport of razor blades and razors, except for disposable razor accessories and safety power razors.

Sharpened and cutting objects, such as knives and knitting needles, nail scissors and nail files, are not allowed on board. Those products that are planned to be consumed during the flight must be pre-cut.

What else cannot be carried on board the aircraft? You cannot take in hand luggage:

  • flammable and explosive substances;
  • toxic substances.
  • household chemicals;
  • nail polish remover with acetone and hairspray.

Many people wonder if it is possible to take a laptop and other gadgets on board for free?

Books and umbrellas, cameras, laptops and mobile phones were excluded from the list of things that you can take with you in excess of the carry-on luggage allowance for free, since they can be put into a backpack, briefcase or handbag.

Everything is simple with a mobile phone, it will not create an advantage, you can put it in your pocket, but a laptop and a professional camera have a lot of weight, and they also take up space.

But the list of permitted goods now includes backpacks, products from duty free shops and medicines, which is really useful.

Many travelers are interested in the question, how much liquid can you take with you on the plane in hand luggage?

This category includes not only water, juice or alcoholic beverages, but also perfumes, eau de toilette, gels, cream, canned food, caviar, honey, jam and other products. They can only be carried on board the aircraft in special packaging.

Liquid products, medicines and cosmetics should be in containers of no more than 100 ml, and the total volume should not exceed 1 liter per person.

For example, toothpaste and deodorant larger than 100 ml should be checked in baggage... In hand luggage, one passenger can have one bag of ready-made liquids, with a volume of no more than 20 × 20 cm.

Can I bring medicines on board? For any tourist on a trip, a first aid kit will come in handy, which includes antiseptics and emergency pills. The main thing is to observe the rule - psychotropic and narcotic substances are prohibited for transportation.

Strong pain relievers, antibiotics, motion sickness medications, and sleeping pills are also at risk under customs control. By the way, you don't have to take the pills for motion sickness on the plane, but take the medicine before the flight.

What medications can I take? The tourist is allowed to take as many medicines as he needs for the entire duration of the flight for his own use.

Allowed antipyretic, pain relievers without codeine, drugs for the stomach, antiallergenic drugs. You can take a blood pressure monitor and an electronic thermometer with you.

It is more convenient to take iodine or brilliant green in a pencil. Do not forget that according to safety standards, every aircraft must have a first aid kit with the necessary means on board.

In most countries, some drugs with potent substances - pseudoephedrine, codeine, phenobarbital, diazepam - fall under official bans.

When flying to Australia, you will need to take your prescriptions for all medications with you... All certificates and an extract from the medical history must be translated into English and certified by a notary. Do not forget the diabetic's special document for transporting insulin.

All tablets and drops must be in their original packaging and with an unexpired expiration date, otherwise they may be classified as dangerous and banned from transportation.

It is prohibited to carry hypodermic needles in carry-on baggage; in exceptional cases, transportation is allowed with a medical document.

To bring some medicines, you will need to bring with you:

  • a prescription from a doctor indicating a psychotropic substance with a dosage per day;
  • a check for this drug;
  • translation of the recipe into English.

Can I take food on board? It is allowed to take food on board, since not all airlines offer food to passengers, and if they do, it may not suit your tastes or the tourist may be allergic.

In the EU countries, foods of animal origin are classified as prohibited food: cheese, sausage, cottage cheese, as well as certain products that have a specific smell and properties.

For example, certain fruits in Thailand and certain types of French blue cheese are banned.

What food can I take? It is better to take light food, rich in protein and without a strong smell, on the plane, for example, chicken and beef, hard cheese, nuts, dryers, crackers, gingerbread, chocolate and bars.

For food, ordinary sandwiches or salads are allowed, packed in special plastic bags or transparent containers. All products must be pre-cut, as knives are not allowed in carry-on baggage.

Fruits and vegetables are also allowed, but not juicy and in the amount that you can consume during the flight. Since the liquid is allowed to be transported in a container of no more than 100 ml, it is better not to take it at all, since the flight attendants carry water, juice, tea and coffee to passengers.

If your ears start to choke during takeoff or landing, you can use candy or chewing gum.

Can i bring an e-cigarette and lighter? Allowed to carry electronic cigarettes in carry-on baggage in the amount of no more than 5 pieces.

It is prohibited to check them in luggage due to lithium batteries and possible overheating and explosion of electronic devices.

A lighter can only be transported in the amount of one piece and then if it is not powered by flammable gasoline.

It is strictly forbidden to smoke tobacco products in the cabin of the aircraft, since the cabin is a fairly closed space and many passengers can perceive a large amount of steam for an accident.

There are no universal luggage parameters, the norms depend on the air carrier, the flight distance and the class of service.

The strictest restrictions on the transportation of luggage in the cabin are set on low-cost flights.

The luggage in the cabin must be located in a special compartment, above the seat. If the bag does not fit there, then it can be placed under the chair.

If the weight of the baggage exceeds the established norms, the owner of the bag pays for an additional seat. If he refuses to do this, then things are checked into the luggage compartment.

Note! In some cases, it will be much cheaper to pay for an extra seat than to check in your carry-on baggage.

It is worthwhile to carefully study the low-cost airlines' rates and promo-rates before purchasing tickets. Find out the pre-allowed weight and size of baggage so that later you do not have to pay for excess weight or even get rid of unnecessary things before departure.

How much should carry-on baggage weigh? The minimum requirements include hand luggage weighing up to 5 kg, which the passenger can take with him free of charge on the plane of any Russian airline.

The law does not prohibit leaving more generous norms, for example, luggage weighing 10 kg is allowed with the carrier Aeroflot and S7.

How many kilograms of luggage is allowed? Aeroflot Airlines has set a standard for one passenger. In Comfort and Economy class, one seat weighing no more than 10 kg is allowed, in Business class - up to 15 kg.

The weight of the luggage should not exceed 10 kg, and the maximum permissible size of the bag should be no more than 55 × 20 × 40 cm.

Even if a child is flying on the plane, he can also carry a bag of the specified size. All products must be packed in one sealed plastic bag, no more than 115 cm in volume.

Aeroflot met the legal minimum, having reduced the list of free things on board by three times, excluding even mobile phones. In the fall of 2017, the Ministry of Transport made changes to the Air Carriage Rules.

Keep in mind that only a minimum of things are spelled out in the rules, that is, air carriers have no right to reduce this list, but to improve - as much as necessary, there would be a desire.

Cameras and laptops disappeared from the free list, and backpacks weighing up to 5 kg and duty free purchases appeared in it.

Gadgets and electronic devices, such as a hair dryer or iron, are accepted for carriage if they are packed in hand luggage, and their weight, dimensions and quantity meet the rules of the air carrier.

In case of exceeding the norms, these items are transported according to the generally accepted rules for the carriage of excess free baggage in the compartment of the aircraft in special protective cases.

Despite the restrictions, the airline has not limited the weight and dimensions of the briefcase and handbag, which can even hold a camera if you choose the right style.

The same size of hand luggage on the plane can be found in UTair.... Even more generous sizes of a stroller and a backpack are allowed here, as well as the size of the duty free package is not limited.

S7 has the same permissible weight and baggage dimensions, as in Aeroflot, but the weight of a sealed duty free package must not exceed 3 kg and a volume of 75 cm.

The company "Russia" has similar dimensions of the suitcase (55 × 40 × 20 cm)... In the economy class cabin, passengers can carry bags weighing up to 5 kg, in first and business class - up to 10 kg.

Airline "KLM" does not limit the weight of hand luggage, you can take bags with the dimensions of hand luggage in the plane with you in the cabin 56 × 35 × 23 cm.

The only domestic low-cost airline "Pobeda", which does not limit the weight and amount of hand luggage at all. That is, you can take whatever you like, but only in a bag no larger than 36x30x27 cm.

The most demanding air carriers include the company " Ural Airlines". The weight of the luggage per passenger should not exceed 5 kg, but in addition to them it is allowed to take a video camera, a photo camera and a laptop.

In the cabin, foreign airlines have a wide range of tolerances for bag dimensions and weight.... Weight can vary from 5 to 18 kg, depending on the air carrier, and sometimes the carry-on baggage allowance is even higher, even in Economy Class.

At the airport, travelers love to shop for products in the duty free area. Airlines allow these items to be carried as carry-on baggage.

Various states have established restrictions on the transport of these products, therefore, the rules for transporting goods to the countries of arrival / departure should be observed.

So, on the territory of the Russian Federation it is allowed to transport no more than 2 liters of alcohol and 2 blocks of cigarettes from the zone Duty Free.

But if a person travels connecting flights, he also goes through a control procedure, and goods purchased in the duty-free zone are equated to personal belongings. Therefore, the ban on the transport of a certain amount of cigarettes or alcohol can be lifted.

All products should be packed in special transparent bags, and receipts should be kept for all purchased goods.

If the traveler travels around Europe, then the transportation of products from the Duty Free zone is allowed in unlimited quantities, but not exceeding the established norms for weight.

You can take wine and other alcoholic beverages, perfumes, shampoo, gels with you. The main thing is that all goods are packed in transparent bags, which must not be opened during the flight.

Important! If the state of the country of departure has not set restrictions on the export of products from the duty-free zone, then they may operate in the country where you arrived.

Therefore, it is better to familiarize yourself with customs regulations in advance to avoid a fine.

Video: Carry-on baggage rules. What to take in carry-on luggage

Issues related to baggage allowed for carriage by air are quite exciting for many. After all, the rules are constantly changing, some of them are getting stricter. And for many passengers, the size of the luggage on the plane is of fundamental importance. Therefore, it is worthwhile to study the issue in advance, so that later on the check-in of bags and when weighing hand luggage, there will be no serious problems.

Today, carriers use two systems, taken as the main ones, which allow them to carry out the final settlement for the carriage of bags and suitcases. This:

  1. Weighing system
  2. According to the number of seats

The first option is often used on flights that go to the CIS countries and to Asia.

An important point in the measurement system is the permissible weight, i.e. the one that is carried free of charge. Graduation of the number of kilograms directly depends on the ticket class. Today the following regulations apply:

  • 20 kg per 1 passenger in economy class
  • 30 kg - in business
  • 10 kg per child up to 2 years

In the first system for calculating how much baggage you can take on board, the following principle works - a passenger can take as many bags as he wants, but their weight should not exceed the permissible standard. You will have to pay for all the extra pounds.

The second system implies that the minimum free kilograms should be packed only in one bag or two, if provided for by the class of the ticket. That is, if a suitcase is filled by 10 kg, it will already take up the permissible number of places, and you will still have to pay for a second suitcase or travel bag that does not belong to carry-on luggage, even if it is filled by 5 kilograms. This type of calculation is used for the most part in America. From Russian companies a similar scheme was introduced quite recently by Aeroflot. In such a settlement system, a bonus is the fact that here free rate slightly more baggage:

  • For the economy - 23 kg
  • For business - 32 kg

It is important to understand here that if passengers go on a trip together, their luggage cannot be summed up. Everyone is responsible for himself. As a result, if the bottom has an advantage, while the other has a deficit of kilograms in the suitcase, the first will have to pay extra for the excess.

There is also a bonus for regular customers airlines - they are provided with benefits on membership cards and for miles in the form of providing additional seats on board the aircraft, or the option is allowed with the addition of kilograms to the total weight of the baggage.

Luggage dimensions

The dimensions of baggage, even for transportation in a special compartment of the aircraft, must be taken into account. So, it is considered standard and admissible for transportation without any additional procedures, except for weighing, a suitcase, which in the sum of its width, length and height is equal to 1.58 m. This measure is valid for a system that takes into account the number of places. In a weighing system, this indicator should be 2.03 m.

If your luggage is out of bounds, for example, you are carrying skis, bicycles and other oversized items, you will have to register them at a separate rack, and in some cases even pay extra. Luggage on an airplane in terms of size and weight in 2018 has the same parameters, but it is worth remembering that the situation may change.

After all, the principles of determining the luggage allowed on board are determined by the carrier himself. And it is worth regularly reviewing the corresponding section on the airline's website or calling the hotline so as not to get into a mess.

Excess baggage

Baggage that, in terms of weight or number of pieces, exceeds the limits stipulated by the ticket, is called excess baggage. And in most cases you will have to pay extra for it. There are, of course, carriers that allow a small overweight - a kilogram or two - without additional payment. But for the most part, for every kilogram in excess of the measure, you will have to pay money. The cost of excess baggage is different for each carrier. It is worth clarifying in advance how much money will have to be paid for an overabundance of things, if there is no opportunity or desire to pay too much.

Heavy luggage

Special attention is paid to luggage, which weighs over 30-32 kg. This is called ponderous. This includes those options that go beyond the permissible dimensions:

  • Skis and sports equipment
  • Musical instruments such as guitar or double bass
  • Household appliances such as an oven or refrigerator

Such goods can only be transported by agreement with the carrier - he should be notified in advance. On the day of departure, you must arrive in advance, because it takes some extra time to drop off such baggage. At the same time, it should be understood that the air carrier may refuse to carry baggage, for example, if luggage compartments turned out to be small, or ran out of space in them.

Fragile luggage

There is a need to carry fragile luggage - glass, decorative elements, paintings, etc. In this case, it will also have to be drawn up separately and a corresponding mark on the cargo. If your baggage fits within the dimensions of your carry-on baggage, the best solution would be to carry it with you to the cabin to ensure the integrity of your belongings.

The issue of hand luggage in 2018 does not lose its relevance. Moreover, the data on it is constantly changing. The amendments to the law are now working. Previously, carry-on baggage included up to 10 kg of free weight, now from 5. But at the same time, air carriers independently determine how much weight they are allowed to carry on board. Thus, the country's major airlines have announced that they will remain at 10 for the time being - both for regular tickets and non-refundable ones.

In general, on average, the following options for carrying hand luggage are valid:

  • Business class - 1 piece weighing 15 kg
  • Economy - 1 piece 10 kg

It is important to take into account the dimensions of the bag so that it fits under all the restrictions. So, carry-on baggage should be packed in a bag 55 cm high, 40 cm wide, 20 cm thick. Some carriers, such as Aeroflot, plan to check compliance with the dimensions using special limiter frames, which will make it possible to immediately determine all the necessary parameters.

  • Oxygen cylinders for medical purposes, etc.

Carefully study the baggage allowance so that there are no troubles with their transportation. And if you have doubts about a particular piece of baggage, it is better to arrive at the airport in advance in order to arrange everything correctly, pay or postpone the excess.

Air travel is the fastest, most convenient and reliable way of movement and transportation, allowing a passenger and his luggage to move from one place to another in just a few hours, despite the great distance of these places from each other. However, the specificity of air flights allows people to be transported only by those airlines and airports that fully comply with generally accepted world standards of safety measures.

To give the passenger boarding pass, he must strictly abide by the strictest rules of travel, which also include the carriage of baggage on board the aircraft. This is done for the overall safety of all passengers and the aircraft.

The presented rules are mandatory for all passengers, regardless of the purpose, nature of the trip or the prestige of the class of the cabin in which you are flying.

In other words, this is a complex of organizational issues aimed at ensuring the comfort and speed of the flight. And baggage transportation is one of the most important organizational issues, which must be treated especially responsibly in order to exclude the occurrence of possible problems.

Airplane baggage 2019

As for the transportation of baggage, it is worth noting the following right away: the rules providing for this process do not have a single world standard, therefore there are options for them, which are influenced by a number of factors.

First- the country you are flying to, since each state has its own rules and standards. For example, when going to Dubai, in no case should you bring with you (and not only in your luggage, but also with hand luggage and in your pockets) objects and literature of a religious nature that are not related to Islam.

Second- the choice of the airline affects the baggage allowance. In addition, the class of the purchased ticket (for example, economy or business class) and the type of aircraft will affect the allowed baggage weight.

In order to avoid unnecessary difficulties and problems during baggage check-in, it is necessary to clarify all of the above points during the process of purchasing tickets. If you have non-standard baggage, you should find out the rules for its transportation in advance.

The first step is to find out which items and things, of those that you want to take with you, can be transported by plane, and which are prohibited.

However, despite the differences in some baggage transportation rules, all airlines have and general rules baggage transportation used in all countries of the world.

General baggage allowance on board

1 - first you need to make sure that the suitcases or bags are in good condition and intact (there are no various kinds of cuts and cracks), which will be checked in by you to separate places in order to exclude damage to the things in them and neighboring luggage during their transportation.

For safety, you can wrap your luggage in cellophane wrap yourself. The same procedure can be performed directly at the airport for a small fee. We recommend doing this! By doing this, you will definitely not stain or tear your suitcase or bag.

2 - each airline has its own rules, which set the weight and size of checked baggage and unchecked baggage (carry-on baggage). If you exceed any of the parameters, you will have to pay extra.

3 - you should remember the list of things that are strictly forbidden to carry on board the aircraft. Neither checked baggage nor carry-on baggage!

What you can not complete your luggage and carry-on luggage

Total baggage weight and carry-on baggage

The things and items allowed for transportation directly in the passenger cabin of the aircraft are called hand luggage often carried in small bags.

Naturally, the purpose of these restrictive measures is to ensure an adequate level of safety for the aircraft and its passengers throughout the entire flight.

For this reason, most airlines impose a ban on the carriage of items such as:
  • Knives and long scissors (and sometimes even manicure);
  • Corkscrews;
  • Knitting needles;
  • Needles for injection, including subcutaneous needles, except for the prescribed cases;
  • Razors, blades and other piercing-cutting tools and objects.
In addition, there are some restrictions on the carriage of liquids in carry-on baggage, such as:
  • Shampoo;
  • Gel;
  • Perfume;
  • Spray;
  • Mascara;
  • Creams;
  • Water as well as soft drinks.

According to the rules, it is allowed to transport the listed liquids and substances in the carry-on baggage set only in small quantities (up to 100 ml) and only in sealed packages (more accurate data are provided by the specific airline that provides you services). Exceptions include baby food and liquid medicines to be consumed in flight. The exclusions also include liquids and goods purchased in duty-free shops ( Duty Free).

As for the weight of luggage and carry-on luggage, there are also certain limits. For hand luggage, the weight range ranges from 7 to 15 kg for 1 piece. For luggage, the average weight is 20-30 kg.

There is also a list of items and things that a passenger has the right to carry with him in the cabin for free, even if they exceed the limits. acceptable standards weight (20 kg) of unpaid baggage:

Items from the list are not marked, weighed or presented for registration.
Regarding the transportation of non-standard and oversized items, such as musical instruments, sports equipment and others that are not included in any of the lists, you must contact the airline representatives in advance.

As can be seen from all that has been written, baggage transportation is a rather complicated process, and in order to avoid problems, it is better to take care of compliance with all measures and requirements in advance.

If you have any questions, you can ask them in the comments. Please check the details of your flight and luggage: flight direction, amount of luggage, etc. We, in turn, will try to answer everyone as soon as possible.

Dear passengers, the rules of carriage were written not to limit your rights, but to make your flight safe. Don't ignore them!

And finally. It should be remembered that it is better to arrive at check-in 2 hours before departure in order to ensure yourself a good mood and to prevent possible difficulties.

With summer, the time has come for vacations, and therefore many immediately turned their attention to the most famous resorts the world. On the this moment exactly the use air transport considered the fastest and most reliable means of travel around the globe.

Just think, in just a few hours you can find yourself completely on the other side of the world, almost without even noticing the flight itself.

However, this method of transportation is subject to its specific features, therefore, each person buying a plane ticket must strictly follow all the rules that exist with the airline.

One of the main and strict is baggage transportation.

The severity of this rule is to ensure safety for any person on board, therefore, prevails over everyone, regardless of their status and purpose of the flight.

In this article, you will find out what are the universal rules used for the carriage of baggage and their differences depending on different airlines.

Basic rules for the carriage of baggage on the plane

At the moment, the whole world has not developed a single list of those rules that each passenger should obey. However, there are various options for them, which operate depending on several factors:

  1. Destination countries - each country in the world has some of its own unique features and characteristics that affect what can be brought into it. For example, since only Islam is preached in Dubai, other items of a religious nature, including crosses, are not allowed to be brought into the territory of this country at all;
  2. Airline rules - each company has its own baggage rules, namely the allowed weight. Very often it depends on the cost of the ticket and the chosen class, as well as the plane itself. Usually this weight should not exceed 30 kg per person;

To avoid any problems during the direct baggage check-in, it would be best to carefully read the existing rules. This is especially true when there is non-standard luggage, such as a pet.

Carefully read the list of items that are not permitted for carriage, such as stabbing and cutting.

The latest changes in the rules for the carriage of baggage on the territory of Russia

The threat of terrorism is getting worse every year, therefore, very often there is a tightening of various baggage allowances. Consider the new rules for the carriage of baggage in an airplane in Russia.

At the moment, since 2016, it has become possible to carry only 1 bag as carry-on luggage.

If before that their number was not counted, now it has become much stricter with this. However, now the weight of such a bag can reach 10 kg, although this is not formalized in writing.

However, the amount of baggage that is checked into the cargo hold is still not standardized by law, so each company sets its own limits. This allowed the creation of so-called "baggage-free" fares, which help to reduce the cost of the ticket for business people who travel without bulky bags.

At the moment, in Russia, the largest bag weight taken on board is 50 kg, however, to travel with so many things, you will have to pay a lot.

However, a pleasant moment was that many airlines have now begun to transport the necessary sports equipment for free, especially to those who travel to ski resorts.

General baggage allowance on board

At the moment, all things that the traveler wants to take with him are conventionally divided into 3 parts:

  • personal belongings;
  • baggage;
  • carry-on baggage.

According to the law, any personal belongings must be transported free of charge. That is why it is better to keep all documents with you, because sometimes the luggage is lost.

However, for all of these types of baggage, there are some general rules that each airline uses, regardless of the country of flight.

  1. Make sure your bags are intact. The carried baggage should not have any cuts, because otherwise, during the flight, things may be damaged and destroy other baggage;
  2. Be sure to wrap your bag in plastic. This service can also be used at the airport, but you will have to pay extra for this. However, it will help you keep your bag intact;
  3. Be sure to weigh your bag before the flight and check if its dimensions and weight fit the rules of the chosen company, so that later you do not pay extra for overweight;
  4. Carefully read the list of prohibited items in order not to inadvertently try to carry them.

Prohibited or restricted items for transportation in the cabin

Very often there are many problems with various transported items that, according to the airline's rules, should not be in the baggage. This is especially true for women who can put their cosmetics and manicure supplies in their carry-on luggage. All this can be confiscated with great ease.

At the moment, it is strictly forbidden to carry on board:

Of course, not the entire list of items prohibited for transportation is presented above, so it is better to discuss all non-standard items with the company in advance.

There is also no discussion of items that are not only not prohibited for transportation, but in general are completely illegal, that is, drugs, explosives. A passenger with such cargo is immediately removed from the flight and transferred to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.

Also, airlines strictly limit the transportation of some things, advising them to take them as carry-on luggage.

Total weight of baggage, rules for carriage of hand baggage by plane

So, at the moment, any passenger with him can carry some baggage for free.

One bag is currently counted as carry-on baggage, the weight of which must not exceed 10 kg. Of course, this does not count as a handbag or a small men's briefcase - these are personal items. In Business Class, some airlines allow 2 bags with a total weight of 15 kg as an incentive to buy more expensive tickets.

Such carry-on baggage should not exceed 115 cm in terms of the sum of all its sides, however, there is also a certain standard - this is 55 * 20 * 40. This happened due to the fact that at the moment I produce bags of completely non-standard sizes.

It is believed that you can bring a rather large musical instrument as hand luggage, but you will need to purchase a separate ticket for it.

Of course, animals should not be forgotten either. If you are carrying a small enough pet, then it can be carried in the salon, of course in a special carrier.

Also, the list of hand luggage includes:

  • laptop and recording equipment;
  • press;
  • products of the customs store, including alcohol, packed in a bag;
  • armchairs and strollers for children under 2 years old;
  • children food.

You can check in 1 bag free of charge as regular luggage per person. However, you should carefully monitor its weight, if it exceeds the limits, then you will have to divide all things into 2 with a surcharge.

The weight of the baggage depends on the class indicated on the ticket. Many airlines have set the maximum for economy class at 20 kg, business allows you to carry an additional 12.

However, the standard bag size should not exceed 158 cm on all sides.

Hand luggage

As a rule, children under two years old are not allowed a separate seat. However, it is permissible to carry additional hand luggage on board such a child.

Of course, it should be much smaller than the standard one.

However, it will be necessary to store them on the plane folded, and they should absolutely not interfere with any other passenger.

Existing features of carrying liquids in carry-on baggage and baggage

At the moment there is complete list liquid substances that are allowed for carriage in carry-on baggage:

  • drinks, water, syrup, soup;
  • lotion, shower gels, shampoo;
  • perfumes and colognes;
  • deodorants and aerosols;
  • toothpaste and cosmetics;
  • shaving foam;
  • other liquid substances.

Each of these jars should not exceed 100 ml, the only exceptions are medicines and baby food, however, their total volume should not exceed 1 liter.

Also, they must be packed in transparent packaging so that the security officer must be able to inspect everything. Anything that exceeds this volume is confiscated.

Baby food and medicines may not be packaged in bags, but the need to have such things with you must be documented.

Duty-free items are also considered an exception, but they must be packaged and left unopened until the end of the flight.

These rules are considered fairly universal for everyone, but there may be some restrictions, depending on the internal rules or the country of arrival. For example, in the USA it is completely forbidden to carry any alcohol with you.

However, all other liquids that do not meet these strict requirements are perfectly acceptable to be carried in the baggage, they just must be placed in it in advance.

Transportation of medicines by plane

A first aid kit is one of the most essential things on any trip, and this applies not only to those with chronic diseases. It is better not to be left without emergency funds abroad that will help cure the problem.

However, many countries do not allow even those funds that are sold on the territory of the Russian Federation without any prescriptions to their territory. Therefore, sleeping pills, antibiotics, pain relievers, motion sickness pills can fall under the risk zone.

First of all, it depends on the fact that their composition contains a large amount of rather potent substances. That is why it is better to know in advance what medicines you can have with you.

At the moment, it is allowed to carry as much money on the plane as is needed for one's own needs. They must be in their original packaging with a normal shelf life.

Also, restrictions apply to liquid preparations, especially insulin, which, due to the temperature, cannot be carried in baggage. It requires a special diabetic passport.

So, in order to carry medicines with you, you will need to have with you:

  1. A doctor's prescription, or his opinion on the need for this medication and its dosage;
  2. A receipt for the purchased product to confirm its origin;
  3. Translation of the recipe into English language- optional, but desirable touch.

Passengers who have these boarding prescriptions go through the red corridor to fill out a customs declaration.

For example, a family of 2 is flying, each ticket includes allowed luggage up to 23 kg, you can combine luggage - one piece for 30 kg and the second for 16 kg.

For business class passengers, the ticket price of which includes 2 pieces of baggage, 23 kg each, the issue of unification remained unresolved and depends on the airline's rules.

The dimensions of carry-on baggage are determined so that each passenger has carry-on baggage.
