• take a slotted screwdriver and disconnect the spring latch from the upper part of the VF case;
• then you can remove the upper plastic part of the VF case;
• the filter element itself opens up to your eyes. Remember its location in the case;
• then you can dismantle the engine cleaning component;
• if necessary, you can clean the filter housing from dirt and dust, otherwise the installation of a new filter element simply does not make sense;
• now we take a new filter and install it in the case with the same side as the old one was installed. Attention! It is important not to confuse the sides;
• replacing the filtration element, you can assemble everything in the reverse order.

Instructions for replacing the air filter on the Kia Spectra

Replacing the air filter with your own hands is a matter of a few minutes and the simplest set of tools. You will need a socket head or tube "10", at worst - a Phillips screwdriver.

We open the hood. The air filter box is located at the glass of the left (naturally, in the direction of travel) rack of the car.

The fastening at its cover is mixed - from the right edge, screws hold the cover from above and below, a spring latch can be found on the side of the air pipe.

We unscrew the screws (with a head or a screwdriver), unfasten the latch, after which the cover can be taken to the side and up, without even disconnecting the pipe from it.

If the car is from the first years of production, then when you move the cover, you should carefully look at the pipe - cracks invisible in the normal position will immediately appear under the action of deformation, and often it is these cracks that cause the incomprehensible floating of idle speed. Especially carefully you need to look inside the folds of the corrugation - this is where cracks begin to appear.

It is enough to simply remove the filter from the lower compartment of the box, nothing holds it there. All dust and debris falling from the filter curtain remains in this compartment, and they should be removed before installing a new filter - when shaken, this dust can be drawn by an air stream into a new filter, and it makes no sense to contaminate it.

The shape of the bottom of the air filter box is not the most convenient, but you can clean it quickly with a wet cloth. If you have a compressor, you can also blow out the box, but you need to protect the open air duct from dust getting there - for example, plug the pipe with a rag.

After that, it remains to put a new filter in place. During installation, the sealing collar must point upwards, before installing the cover, check whether it has fallen into the groove of the body around the entire perimeter - otherwise, when tightening the cover, distortions and suction of untreated air may occur.

Pressing the cover tightly, we stretch the screws for its fastening - first the upper one, then the lower one, and finally the right ones. You should not apply a lot of effort to the head - excessive tightening will not improve the tightness, rather, on the contrary, it deforms the cover of the air filter compartment, which can also cause air leaks into the inlet past the filter. The latch is put in place last.
