Loo or Lazarevskoye - where is it better to go? Lazarevskoye or Loo, which is better? Where is the cleaner sea in Loo or Lazarevskoye?

On the territory of the village there are many hotels and sanatoriums, inexpensive private sector facilities. The Magadan sanatorium is considered the largest - it occupies about 14.5 hectares on the former estate of Count Sheremetyev. You can choose a suitable accommodation option in numerous mini-hotels, guest houses, campsites and boathouses. The private sector is also actively renting.

Due to the elongation of the village along the coastline, there is no concept of “distance from the beach” as such. From any point in the village to the coast is no more than 10 minutes on foot. Prices for holidays in Loo in 2019 are much more affordable than in Sochi or Adler, but you still shouldn’t count on big discounts and dumping.

How to get there

The village lies in a flood valley of several rivers, the largest of which gave the name to the settlement. The sea is open, and on the continental part the village is limited by the foothills of the Caucasus. The climatic conditions are similar to those in Sochi, only the humidity is slightly higher. The center of Sochi is approximately 18 km away. Loo's closest neighbors are the resort villages of Dagomys and Vardane.

The location of the village and the existing transport interchange will not cause difficulties for visitors. The easiest way to get to Loo is to get here by rail. The village has a large railway station, where most long-distance trains going to Adler stop. From Sochi airport, where you can fly from various parts of Russia, regular buses go to the village. You can also get to the station, and then take the train to your destination.

general information

Loo, by municipal standards, is just one of the microdistricts of Sochi. Although, in terms of its size, this settlement, at a minimum, can lay claim to the title of an urban-type settlement. About 10,000 people live here, which is much more than in other coastal villages. Being part of the protected area of the Sochi Park, the village is devoid of any industrial facilities, which gives it an advantage even compared to Sochi. But the infrastructure of service and entertainment is in no way inferior to the resort capital of Russia. Every year more than a million people come to Loo on vacation, especially since the season here does not stop even in winter.

The history of the village dates back to the 8th century. This is evidenced by the ruins of the Abkhaz-Alan temple, which have survived to this day. For a long time, the territory was famous as a center of the slave trade on the coast. At that time, the largest Abkhazian feudal clan Lau (Low), who belonged to the family of King Leon, the founder of the Abkhazian kingdom, ruled here. The village became Russian in 1864, after its conquest during the Caucasian campaign.

What to do on holiday in Loo

Loo, like neighboring Sochi, gives its guests the opportunity to spend their free time very richly. And this, as we understand, is 24 hours a day. Where you will definitely end up is at the AquaLoo water park. The largest, and most importantly, year-round complex of water attractions will not leave either children or adults indifferent.

If you want to see what the Real Caucasus is like, climb Mount Fisht. These are three peaks, up to 2800m high, located 37 km from the coast, but the excursion there is worth it. Moreover, Fisht is the main attraction of the Sochi National Park.

On the way to Fisht, stop by the “Paradise Delight” waterfall in the Loo River valley. There are not only excellent landscapes here, but also a reconstructed and functioning mill, as well as a whole museum that will tell you about the life of local residents since the Middle Ages.

Beaches

There are a lot of beaches in Loo. This is perhaps the main reason for the popularity of the village. They stretch for more than 6 km, giving the opportunity to choose the most optimal option, both in terms of location to the place of residence and conditions. The most popular is Central Beach. It is about 90m wide, covered with small pebbles, sometimes turning into sand. The beach has a very well-developed infrastructure, ranging from a two-tier pier to nightclubs right on the coast. About a kilometer away is one of the most famous wild beaches of Sochi. “Wildness” lies in the absence of noisy entertainment. Otherwise, the beach is fully landscaped and constantly cleaned.

Latest reviews about holidays in Loo

This is the fifth time I’ve been relaxing in the Sura guest house, with Uncle Norik and Aunt Ira, my vacation ends in a couple of days and again there are tears in my eyes, I’ll be looking forward to a whole year to come back here again, to this wonderful house, the owners greet me and see me off How are your family, they always ask how are you? and they will advise, and Uncle Norik always drove me from the sea, all you have to do is call, I already miss you

Have a nice holiday everyone. Very nice hosts, we had an early arrival, at 4 am, they met us, waited by the train, and took us to the place. In the morning the hostess took us to show the beach. The distance to the beach is as written. The room is cozy, clean, good view from the window. There are shops nearby. very quiet. Recommend.

I liked everything very much. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, equipped with: TV, refrigerator, wardrobe, bedside table and more. Service at the highest level, tidy rooms and new linen. The prices are excellent and reasonable. The son is delighted with the animals: dogs, Lord and Gerda, and kittens, Korzhik, Tigger and Paws. The yard is very large and clean, it contains: a children's playground, 2 gazebos, a barbecue, a mountain stream and many flowers. Hosts: Norik and Irina are very kind and hospitable. And the kids, Leo and Lera, are very cute and cheerful. If we go to Loo next year, then only to the Sura Guest House, to Norik and Irina.

We rested for a week and for the first time reluctantly said goodbye to the place - LOO and our place of residence “House over Aqualoo”... The hospitable host received us 12 hours earlier than our planned arrival, while over the phone he gave recommendations on how to choose the right road... offered the services of a taxi driver (with whom We left later for the railway station for “kopecks.”) While in the house we didn’t feel “like a guest.” Absolutely everything is provided for a comfortable stay and relaxation. There are two spacious kitchens with everything you need in sufficient quantities, refrigerators. We especially remember one kitchen, which is located on the terrace overlooking the sea, we occupied it from the first day... Downstairs in the local area there is a barbecue (both barbecue and firewood are provided free of charge - for the first time since we vacationed in different places, such a service is free), a barbecue and a gazebo... again overlooking the sea. From the room you can see the sea in full view, the views are gorgeous! We will definitely come back to you again!!! Thank you, Alexander Vladimirovich! Prosperity to you and the implementation of your most daring ideas!

We stayed at the Sura guest house for the first time. I liked everything very much, the location is very good, everything is close. Quiet place. It's a 7-minute walk to the sea, there are many good restaurants nearby, shops, a bank, everything is within walking distance. We took a double room on the ground floor, a separate entrance, in the room there was a bed, bedside table, wardrobe, TV, refrigerator, air conditioning, toilet and shower. The rooms are very cozy and clean. There is a large kitchen for self-catering, which has all the necessary utensils. The owners are very nice people, they meet you and accompany you to the station, they will always help and advise. Irina met, showed and told everything. Special thanks to Norik for the excursion, which was very fun. We are very glad that we vacationed in Sura, and our only regret is that we came for only 7 days. Like most people, before going on vacation to Sura, we read reviews, which were all positive, and only on one site there was not a single good review, which surprised us and gave us doubts. And when we spent our holiday in Sura, we realized that all these reviews were nonsense. You shouldn’t believe the reviews written on the “I want to go to the south” website, there’s nothing wrong with it! Norik told us that such reviews began to be written on the site after he refused to cooperate with them. Therefore, do not believe the bad reviews about Sura, we have personally seen that this is a wonderful place to relax. Irina and Norik, thank you very much for everything. Now if we go to Loo, it will only be to see you.

The village to which this site is dedicated is not the only place where you can spend your vacation. Very close by are two much more popular holiday destinations on the Black Sea coast - Loo and Lazarevskoye.

“Where is the best place to relax” is a completely logical question, but it is almost impossible to give a definite answer to it. If it were possible, everyone would only go to this place. So we will only talk about comparative advantages.

Comparison of Lazarevsky and Loo

The following table will help you understand these advantages and disadvantages.

Characteristic Loo Lazarevskoe
Beach Cleaner due to the less popular place (fewer vacationers). It is possible to find “slightly planted” areas. There are more vacationers, therefore there is less space and cleanliness. In general, however, it is not much inferior. According to some reviews, the water temperature is slightly lower (however, this is of little significance for visitors from the north).
Prices The differences are minor, rather a little cheaper. The differences are insignificant, rather a little more expensive, but the choice of place of residence and other services is better, and there is more competition.
Entertainment Less, although also present (water park, beach discos) Much more (water parks, dolphinarium, etc.). More cafes and restaurants.
Number of vacationers, degree of privacy and comfort There are fewer vacationers; Accordingly, it is more suitable for a relaxing pastime. There are more tourists, so it is primarily suitable for those who are focused on a variety of entertainment.

As you can see, the choice is quite clear: if you need more entertainment, we go to Lazarevskoye. Well, if calm is more important, then vice versa.

However, one more important point should be noted here. In any case, the maximum of various tourist services is concentrated in Sochi itself, in its central part. So, Loo is geographically closer to the city (this is easy to see by looking at the train schedule and their order). Therefore, if you plan to visit the center multiple times, take this factor into account.

On the other hand, it is quite possible to do without such trips.

Let's add one more not very comforting fact. The fact is that the largest landfill on the Russian Black Sea coast is located in Loo. Therefore, the beach is called “clean” conditionally - in the sense that there are fewer tourists here. Of course, the garbage is not located directly in the resort area, but still quite close to it (about a kilometer from the shore).

This train schedule on the route Lazarevskaya - Loo is for informational purposes only and does not contain operational changes related to repair work and other circumstances. When planning a trip, it is recommended to check the schedule at the station information desk.

Loo is a large Black Sea village located in the Lazarevsky microdistrict of Sochi. Established in the 19th century on the site of a Ubykh aul evicted to Turkey, Loo was filled with visiting Armenians and Greeks, whose descendants still make up the majority of the population. The main activity is tourism business.

There is a new railway station building in Loo, where trains and commuter trains stop. Rail transport on the Black Sea coast is more popular than road transport, since the only coastal highway A-147 is replete with serpentines and is heavily loaded in the summer. By rail you can get to Sochi in just half an hour and from 40 minutes to an hour to the village. Lazarevsky. The Lastochka express trains run quickly and on schedule; commuter trains are overcrowded and often run late.

Distances by road to Sochi (28 km) or Lazarevskoye (48 km), during the season or in cases of accidents, can take hours to overcome.

The climate in Loo is humid, subtropical. In July-August, the sea warms up to +27, and the air temperature reaches +40, which, with high humidity, is poorly tolerated by people with heart disease. The optimal months for sea holidays are June and September, when the air is not so hot and the water does not cool below +20. During the winter months there are clear, warm days.

Holidays in the noisy and crowded Loo are more suitable for those who like entertainment, excursions and nature trips. The village has boarding houses, sanatoriums, 5 Magnit supermarkets, 3 ATMs, restaurants, a market, a hospital, and several pharmacies.

Holidays in Loo

In the southern part of the village there is a water park and a dolphinarium. Excursions around Greater Sochi and Abkhazia are offered, including speleological and rafting. You can independently visit the famous archaeological site - the ruins of a medieval temple on the top of a 300-meter mountain. There is also a new Orthodox church of St. Simon the Canaanite.
There is a diving club in Loo, and in the neighboring village of Uch-Dere you can visit an interesting museum of old cars.

Excursions to the nearby mountains include the “Paradise Delight” waterfall and the museum of the life of Armenian settlers. Horseback riding is also offered there. During a one-day hike, you can explore the artificial lake on the river. Tserkovnoe Loo (3.5 km from the sea) and waterfalls on the river. Metsket - “Gorge of Witches” (3 km from Verkhnearmyansky Loo), where there are equipped places for picnics.

For tent holidays there is a campsite in the area of the Akva-Loo sanatorium. In the middle reaches of the river. Loo you can organize fishing, there are also specially equipped ponds. In the morning, fishermen gather on the pier.

Private sector, guest houses and hotels in Loo

The resort village of Loo was and remains to this day one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Black Sea coast.
For vacationers, they offer completely different accommodation options - from the inexpensive private sector represented by guest houses and boathouses to good hotels that can boast more comfortable living conditions.

In order not to look for a place to stay upon arrival in Loo, we advise you to take care of this in advance. On the popular website Booking.com you can easily find and book suitable accommodation in Loo. Here you will find many verified accommodation options with photos and real guest reviews.

Since the site works directly with the owners of the private sector and hotels in Loo, booking occurs without the participation of intermediaries. Accommodation prices depend on factors such as seasonality, room category, the availability of certain amenities, and the distance of the accommodation from the sea and the beach.

Beach in Loo

The beach area of the village stretches for 1.5 km. There is a pier for small vessels. The shore is covered with large pebbles. Entering the sea is sometimes inconvenient due to rocks; special shoes are required. The coastal strip is cut by the Loo River and several streams with an unpleasant odor. It is possible to find clean places away from the crowded central beach during the season.

The residential buildings of the village are located on a hill; any road from the sea will go uphill. Access to the shore through a tunnel under the railway or through passages. The railway track and the highway approaching close to the shore are closed by light residential buildings - boathouses. There is a market, necessary services, a cafe, toilets and showers. Water attractions are organized.

In the summer, cases of rotavirus infection become more frequent, especially on crowded beaches. The hospital in Loo is sometimes overcrowded and prices for medicines are high. It is recommended to bring with you the necessary medications and doctor’s advice received before leaving for vacation.

In everything else, Lazarevskoye is better.

Firstly, this is a large village, the center of the region, the infrastructure here is better developed.

Secondly, it’s cleaner and nicer, there’s somewhere to walk.

Thirdly, there is more entertainment.

Lazarevskoe

Climate and nature

Both Loo and Lazarevskoye are humid subtropics, there is no difference in climate, it is hot and very humid in summer. The nature is beautiful, what can you say: palm trees, magnolias, mountains, open sea, mountains.

We swim from the second half of June to October, but lovers of cool water - 18-20 ° C - can open the swimming season in May.

Beaches

The beaches in both Loo and Lazarevskoye are pebble, from the smallest pebbles, almost like sand, to large stones.

Loo has one advantage about its beaches: they are simply huge, I have never seen anything like them anywhere else, almost 100 meters wide. But the beaches are still full during peak season.

Beach in Loo

The beaches here and there are wild, and there are well-maintained ones. In principle, the beaches have good infrastructure, everything is available everywhere: cabins, umbrellas, sun loungers for rent, a lot of entertainment such as catamarans, parachutes, cafes and canteens nearby.

Beach in Lazarevskoye

The sea is cleaner in Lazarevka! Everyone complains that in Loo, waste from the sewerage flows into the sea from the river, at least we have heard about cases of intestinal infection.

The bottom is rocky everywhere, the entrance is too, the depth is gradual.

Many people bathe in special slippers; children quickly get used to it and run around barefoot. But when the waves are big, it is very difficult to enter the water.

For children

  • two water parks
  • dolphinarium
  • penguinarium
  • a standard amusement park with a Ferris wheel, which is considered the tallest in Russia.

There is almost nothing in Loo, only on the beach and embankment there are children's attractions (from air hockey and a shooting range to trampolines and a pool with boats) - this is now everywhere.

There are also cinemas and a large water park “Aqualoo”, which personally left us with the most unpleasant impressions (dirty, tasteless food). Although there are a lot of visitors there, some people like it.

Excursions

By the way, there is something to see nearby: tea houses are 10 km away, very close to the ruins of a medieval temple. In principle, traveling is not a problem - 26 km. 33 waterfalls are also a little closer to Loo.

33 waterfalls

From Lazarevskoye it is more convenient to go to the “Tears of Laura” waterfall in Vishnevka, to the Svirskoye and Mamedovo gorge, to the “Miracle Beauty” gorge, and the Volkonsky dolmen.

Volkonsky dolmen

Miracle beauty

Night life

I definitely recommend Lazarevskoe to young people - it’s not Sochi, of course, it’s on a different level, but still, there are a lot of decent clubs, foam discos, themed parties, various fashionable DJs come. And there are more young people here than in Loo; there is always company.

There are also young people in Loo, of course, there are a couple of clubs (Aqualoo definitely has one), karaoke, and a cafe with live music (one on the beach was very good).

Transport accessibility

As I already said, it’s closer to Sochi - only 26 km (70 km to Lazarevka).

There are railway stations both here and there, but from Adler Loo airport, it turns out, it’s more accessible.

The bus service is good, as everywhere else in the country - you can go on excursions by bus.

Housing

There are a lot of options both in Lazarevskoye and in Loo, traditionally it’s cheaper.

However, I didn’t like Loo at all. Firstly, if you take accommodation 150-200 meters from the sea, you will have to walk back and forth across railway tracks and a very busy highway.

But even if you take the first line, you will still have to go to the village, to cafes, to shops - much of this is located behind the road.

Here you can see the road

In Loo, right by the sea, there are inexpensive houses - boathouses, but there is another problem - it is very noisy.

In general, Lazarevskoye is much better in terms of living comfort, although there is also a railway through the village, but in most of it it is quite far from the sea.
