Bohinj Slovenia on the map. Slovenia: Lake Bohinj - complete relaxation

Lake Bohinj, located next to the main Slovenian pearl - Lake Bled, is not so popular among travelers, but in vain.

If Bled is a respectable, fashionable resort, intended for leisurely walks along the evening embankments, learning to play golf at the local golf club or while away time in numerous cafes on the shore of the lake, then Bohinj is a primitive, almost untouched nature, clean mountain air and almost no tourists.

Those for whom comfort and civilized joys of life in the form of discos, bars, comfortable beaches and developed tourist infrastructure are definitely not worth going to the shores of Lake Bohinj. But those who like wild holidays and life in a campsite should visit the vicinity of Lake Bohinj (although, to be objective, there are also hotels in villages near Bohinj, but there are much fewer of them compared to Bled). Lake Bohinj, first of all, is peace and relaxation.

Useful information about the Slovenian ski resort Bohinj. Trails, subscription costs, opportunities for recreation and entertainment.

The Alpine ridge stretches strongly from west to east; in its extreme eastern part the mountains are very low. Here is the ski area Bohinj, the center of skiing and tourism in Slovenia. In the center of the mountain basin there is a beautiful lake of the same name, on the banks of which a ski village is built.

Location and description

The height of the area is 525 meters. Bohinj includes such resorts as Soriška Planina, Kobla, Vogel and others. The distance between them is small, which can be quickly covered by bus. The nearest town is called Bohinska Bystrica, some of the skiers live in its hotel. The resort is 80 km away from the capital of the country, Ljubljana. North of Bohinj is Slovenia's highest peak, Mount Triglav. It and the surrounding area, including the lake and resort, are part of the Triglav Nature Reserve.

The number of hotels built is enough to accommodate all visitors; in addition, the resort has many chalets and apartments where couples or families can relax. Bohinj is designed for relaxation at any time of the year; in winter, mountaineering, riding along secluded trails, and climatic therapy are widespread here. There are great opportunities for active children's recreation, and entertainment events are held. When Lake Bohinj is covered with ice due to frost, a wonderful natural skating rink opens up.

The resort is suitable for lovers of nature and solitude, for a honeymoon, or a relaxing holiday with children. There are no noisy entertainment venues with blaring music until late.

Bohinj is an international sports center. In the first half of winter, skiing competitions are held here. A hot air balloon festival is organized in February. The resort has two ski schools with English-speaking staff; experienced instructors quickly teach children and adults. Guides lead ski excursions through the wooded area and lake shores, and tourists love to visit the frozen waterfall. All equipment is rented.

Trails

Among the ski areas, Vogel is the most popular. There are 16 trails with a total length of 36 km, there are places for wild skiing and snowboarding tracks. The elevation difference reaches 1200 meters. This place appeals to skiers of all skill levels. In Soriška Planina, the slopes are simpler and flatter; beginners prefer skiing here. There are a total of 7 trails with a length of 6 km.

Kobla is located higher than other ski areas. There are 9 trails with a length of 23 km. There are places for freeride, snowboarding and an instructor center is open.

👁 Do we book the hotel through Booking as always? In the world, not only Booking exists (🙈 for a high percentage from hotels - we pay!). I’ve been using Rumguru for a long time, it’s really more profitable 💰💰 than Booking.
👁 And for tickets, go to air sales, as an option. It has been known about him for a long time 🐷. But there is a better search engine - Skyscanner - there are more flights, lower prices! 🔥🔥.
👁 And finally, the main thing. How to go on a trip without any hassle? Buy now. This is the kind of thing that includes flights, accommodation, meals and a bunch of other goodies for good money 💰💰.

Now it's time for the last post about our trip to Slovenia. It will be entirely dedicated to Lake Bohinj: we will walk along the right bank of the lake, and also learn the main legend of the local area.
It must be said that this coast is wilder; there is only a walking trail here, quite narrow, very rocky in places. Much fewer tourists reach these wonderful places than the waterfall and cable car.

We will start, however, traditionally, in the area of the bridge and the church. A textbook view of the village of Rybchev Laz

Near the pier there is a monument to Zlatorog, the legend of which forms the basis of local folklore

In general, everything is quite typical, somewhat reminiscent of Bazhov. There once lived in the vicinity of Triglav a beautiful chamois with golden horns. Zlatorog guarded the country of mysterious white women, which probably contained many treasures. And so a certain hunter, wanting to please his beloved, set out to get the horns of the magic chamois. He tracked down the goldenhorn and wounded it, but only from the blood of the chamois that spilled on the ground, wonderful flowers immediately grew (edelweiss, as one version claims). Zlatorog ate them, instantly healed from the wound and was gone. The hunter eventually fell into the abyss. And the white women and Zlatorog have since left these places forever. Here is a more detailed and colorful option. In general, as always, greed and female cunning are to blame for everything :)

View of the lake from the bridge. More precisely, this is not a lake, but a small bay, so the base of the reservoir is not visible

Small trout move in shallow water in large numbers. I don’t know if the fish we tried was caught in the lake, but they cooked it wonderfully

The landscapes are fabulous and peaceful

The most beautiful thing, perhaps, is the morning fog slowly dissipating over the lake.

Somewhere around 8 o'clock

There are a lot of ducks there, but I didn’t see any swans, unlike Bled

Well, now you can start the actual walk. A sign at the beginning of the path will kindly tell everyone that Lake Bohinj is the largest and deepest in Slovenia (45 meters at its deepest point).

We begin our hike, about 5-6 kilometers. wonderful weather

The fish is not shy, to put it mildly

By the way, it is impossible to determine the size of the lake from any point on the shore. But we saw everything from above last time :)

Here are the alpine meadows for you

But we almost never saw cows grazing, despite the fact that there are a lot of them in Staraya Fuzhin. Apparently, they eat in strictly designated places

The wind has picked up, the perfect mirror is not working

Hills, houses, a dream of artists and photographers

And the mountains, of course

Here we caught a moment of calm

Along the way we came across a couple of such structures. They resemble drinking bowls, but the water is cloudy

And here is a familiar tourist boat, which we didn’t have time to get on from the funicular, but we’ll get there today

And the clouds are gathering little by little

Halfway along the way we came across a half-abandoned gatehouse and several dozen wells like this behind the fence. Again, I can only assume that these are some kind of wastewater treatment plants

Around the path

And again the lake

An exceptionally picturesque stone that is pleasant to stand on

We met almost no one along the way

And here there are icons at the crossroads

But this is quite interesting. A real stone river

It’s interesting what happens here at the moment of active snow melting, how powerful the flow is. Seems like he could be really solid

If there are a lot of mice on the opposite bank, then here, among the stones, is a real paradise for lizards. This is a viviparous lizard, it appears to be male

The familiar funicular on the opposite bank

We went to see Savitsa. Interesting water color

Tourist boat pier near the campsite, near Ukanets

Shot from the board

Another representative of the local fauna

Of course, I regret that because of the weather on the last day it was not possible to go to another waterfall or climb a hill from which a very good view of the lake opens. But in fact, it’s a sin to complain, because Lake Bohinj is the rainiest place in all of Slovenia. And more often it happens like this

And just like that

Panoramas, as usual, are at the end of the post, for the most patient :) Enjoy your contemplation!
