Vegetable world

We turn to the description of the flora of the Black Sea coastal strip within Russia. Almost the entire coast from the north is closed by the mountains of the Greater Caucasus Range. The mountains are covered with oak, beech and spruce forests. Among the trees are also widespread chestnut, fir, yew, plane tree, cypress. There are rare species of trees - pistachio, cherry laurel. To the south of Tuapse, in the subtropical zone, palm trees, acacia trees, magnolias, and junipers grow. One of the relict species is the Colchis boxwood, which grows in the subtropical zone of the Russian Black Sea region, from Tuapse to Adler. Grapes, persimmons, peaches, apricots grow almost everywhere. Oranges, tangerines, lemons and pomegranates grow in the Adler and Sochi regions.

If you look at the change in vegetation depending on the height above sea level, then the general picture is as follows: at altitudes up to about 600 meters above sea level, there are plantings of pears, apple trees, cherry plums, red maples, and walnuts. If you climb higher mountains, then, starting from a height of 600 meters and up to about 1200 meters, the vegetation is already changing, beech, sycamore, and Caucasian fir grow there. At altitudes up to 2000 meters, the vegetation is already entirely coniferous - forests of Caucasian spruce and fir predominate. Birch and mountain ash grow above 2000 meters. On the Black Sea coast, in broad-leaved forests, even reindeer lichen is found - a typical northern plant, whose habitat is considered to be the tundra and forests of the Far North! As we can see, the natural diversity of species growing in the Caucasus - from northern reindeer lichen to African palm trees - is very great!

On the southern coast of Crimea there is a Mediterranean climate zone. In the mountains of Crimea, there are a large number of trees of different types: oak, beech, pine, linden, alder, autumn, mountain ash, elm, willow, hornbeam, poplar, birch, cypress, almond, acacia, cedar, walnut, spruce, fir, chestnut, eucalyptus.

Lemon balm, lavender, elderberry, buckthorn, rosemary, rose, myrtle, feijoa, mistletoe, laurel, blackthorn, tamarix, Japanese sophora, figs, wisteria, lilac, magnolia, blackberry, strawberry, hawthorn, dogwood grow from plants in the mountainous regions of Crimea. So, in the Crimean mountains you can find chicory, calendula, aster, dandelion, cornflower, elecampane, wormwood, thistle, succession, burdock, yarrow, sow thistle, chamomile, feather grass, lupine, sage, motherwort.

Animal world

Let's continue our overview of the region with a description of the animal world. Of the large predatory animals in the mountains near the coast, the Caucasian bear lives, which is smaller in size than the brown bear.

The lynx is a rare but dangerous predator. The lynx attacks roe deer, small deer, chamois. Very often she watches over her prey, sitting in a tree.

There is a wild cat in the forest. It is similar to a domestic cat, but larger in size. Wild cats prey on small rodents.

One of the most beautiful animals is the Caucasian red deer. It is a large, slender and graceful animal. Male deer wear huge, branchy antlers.

Wild boars are a very common species of large carnivorous mammals in the Caucasus. In the mountains, they are found almost everywhere, especially in beech forests and near mountain rivers.

In the mountains of Crimea, the Crimean red deer, roe deer, fallow deer, wild boar, fox, and badger are found. Among birds, there are jays, woodpeckers, blackbirds, owls, black-headed vultures, swans, herons, and cranes.

Of the snakes in the coastal region, there are already, copperhead and viper. Copperhead and viper are poisonous; when meeting with them, you need to be careful not to tease these reptiles. Among other reptiles, turtles are found in large numbers.

From the family of fish, trout live in mountain rivers, so fishing on a mountain river will be an interesting activity.

Of the large insects in forests and glades, a huge number of butterflies can be found. There are wild bees and wasps. You have to be especially careful if you meet a spider. In the Caucasus, there are two types of spiders that are poisonous to humans - tarantula and karakurt. The tarantula is a large furry spider that lives in burrows. A tarantula bite leads to the appearance of a huge ulcer on the skin; after a bite, you should immediately seek medical attention from a doctor. The bite is not fatal, but painful.

The bite of a karakurt in some cases can be fatal if a spider has bitten a person suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Karakurt is a small black spider with red dots on its back (or without them), which likes to settle in wastelands, near salt marshes and in summer cottages. The bite of a karakurt leads to paralysis of the nervous system, therefore, without hospitalization of the bitten one, recovery is out of the question. The bite of a karakurt resembles a small pin prick, after an hour hallucinations, nausea appear, pressure rises, breathing and urination are difficult. Death occurs in 1-2 days without medical assistance. Therefore, you cannot touch and approach these spiders. The first karakurt will never attack, only if they disturbed its nest or accidentally pinned it down.

A huge number of birds are found in the Caucasus. In the foothills, there is a starling, an oriole, a nightingale, a green woodpecker, and among birds of prey - a hawk and a mountain eagle. Siskin, raven, swallow, thrush nest high in the mountains. The most common birds in the Russian Caucasus are the crow, jay, titmouse, woodpecker, swift, cuckoo, turtle dove, quail, gray partridge.

Underwater world

We pass on to the description of the underwater world of the Black Sea in the region of the Russian coast.

Dolphins and katran sharks are found on the Russian coast of the Black Sea (they do not pose any danger to humans at all). The danger is the sea cat and the sea dragon. A sea cat is a stingray that lives at the bottom of the sea and sometimes swims in shallow water. The danger is represented by its tail with a poisonous spike. The stingray forcefully plunges its tail into the victim. In case of a bite, it is necessary to urgently seek help from a medical institution, the stingray poison is very poisonous. The sea dragon fish is no less poisonous. Fatalities have been reported after being bitten by this small fish. But in general, these venomous predators prefer to stay away from crowded beaches in resorts. Therefore, a meeting with them can occur only in areas that are not equipped for swimming or in uninhabited places.

Of other fish, goby, mullet and flounder are found in large numbers, which are of commercial importance. In the Black Sea, in the region of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, there are several species of jellyfish, which swim to the coast at high tide.

Climate

In conclusion, I would like to highlight the climatic zones in which the Black Sea coast of Russia is located - this is a zone of temperate maritime climate, a zone of Mediterranean climate and a zone of subtropical humid climate.

On the stretch of the coast from the Taman Peninsula to Anapa, a temperate maritime climate prevails, from Anapa to Tuapse and the Crimean coast - a Mediterranean climate, from Tuapse to the border with Abkhazia - a subtropical climate. Such a variety of climatic zones on a small stretch of coastline determines the diversity of the flora, fauna and underwater world of the Russian Black Sea region.
