Aircraft Airbus A330 200. Fleet Aircraft Turkish Airlines

Today Aeroflot is the most famous Russian air carrier, whose arsenal includes many aircraft that have gained worldwide fame. One of the most popular models is the Airbus A330.

Basic information about the Airbus A330

This is a jet wide-body passenger aircraft, presented in 8 modifications - 6 civil and 2 military. Developed by Airbus Industry. Its first version was presented in 1992.

Civil airliners:

  • A330-100. Produced to replace the A300 and A310 aircraft. But due to the shortcomings and mistakes made, it began to be considered a failed version;
  • A330-200. This shortened version of the A330-300 is successfully used to this day. It is a direct competitor to the Boeing 767;
  • A330-200F. Cargo version of the A330-200;
  • A330-200HGW. Made for Korean Air. Features increased take-off weight;
  • A330-300. The most common liner. It features high passenger capacity and a large cargo compartment;
  • A330-P2F. Conversion of a passenger aircraft into a cargo aircraft.

Military airliners:

  • A330-200 MRTT. This model has additional fuel tanks, allowing it to load up to 111 tons. The aircraft was produced for military purposes, as a transport tanker;
  • A330-200FSTA. The second version of the military aircraft is currently under development.

Differences between aircraft versions

The A330-300 version is Airbus's largest twin-engine aircraft. It allows you to carry up to 440 passengers in economy class, 335 in two classes and 295 if the aircraft is divided into three classes. The design of the aircraft also allows it to transport large volumes of cargo.

The A330-200 was produced in the image of the A330-300. It is shorter by 10 sections (6 m). Its length is 58.8 m. It can carry up to 253 passengers in 3 classes. Compared to the A330-300, the keel has been increased to compensate for the lower yaw moment.

Passenger cabin of the Airbus A-330

The classic version of the liner has two salons. The first six rows are reserved for business class. There are 6 seats in each row - two on the right, two in the middle and two on the left. The distances between the seats are quite large, which allows passengers not to interfere with each other. The seats here are very comfortable, they can be reclined 180 degrees, so you can get a good night's sleep during the flight. This is especially important during night and/or long flights. However, it is important to keep in mind that rows 5 and 6 are noisy, since they are adjacent to the common salon.

The remaining rows are reserved for economy class. It is divided into two compartments. Each row of the first compartment contains 8 seats - two on the right, four in the middle and two on the left. The seats in the middle are slightly shifted back. Toilets are located between the compartments. In the second compartment, the seats are located in the same way, only the seats in the middle are shifted forward, and in the last rows in the middle there are three chairs.

The best seats are considered to be the seats in the rows located immediately behind business class and behind the escape hatches. You can sit comfortably in the seats on the right and left. There are no neighbors in front, so no one will lean back on you. Having space allows you to stretch your legs and stand up without disturbing anyone. Moreover, there is a kitchen not far from these rows, and passengers occupying seats here receive food first.

When choosing places, consider the following important nuances:

For travelers with small children, it is better to choose the 11th and 24th rows, where there is space for the child’s accessories.

If you like to look out the window, then do not take seats in those rows where there are no windows. Check this information

The last row is especially noisy, and the seats are pressed tightly together due to the narrowing of the fuselage.

Brief characteristics

  • The tail of the liner is single-finned;
  • The wing shape is swept;
  • Designed for medium and long distances;
  • It is wide-body, which means there are two aisles between the seats;
  • As of October 2017, 1,373 units are in operation;
  • Equipped with Rolls-Royce, General Electric and Pratt & Whitney engines.

The history of the Airbus A330

Officially, the aircraft program began in 1987. Its original goal was to compete with Boeing aircraft. In 1992, versions A330-200 and A330-300 were released. Initially they differed only in length.

The planes were introduced in 1992. The A330-300 was then used to undergo ETOPS flight testing. During this time, the plane flew with one engine on over the Atlantic for 6 hours. After this, the A330-300 became popular with many airlines.

In 1997, the A330-200 version also made its first flight.

Later, Airbus Industrie was going to design a model of the A350, modifying the wings, engine and nose. But the project failed, but a completely different version of the A350XWB was released.

In 2014, Airbus Industrie began developing the A330neo series of aircraft. As the developer explained, these will be improved A330 aircraft.

Where is it produced?

Parts of Airbus A330 aircraft are assembled in four countries: France, Spain, Great Britain, Germany. The aircraft are finally assembled at the main plant in the French city of Toulouse and in Germany - in Hamburg.

Cost of the most popular models

  • The price for the A330-200 airliner is $221.7 million;
  • A330-300 costs $245.6 million;

News from the world of Airbus

In the summer of 2017, Airbus introduced an updated version of the airliner - the A380plus. It has an updated wing design and optimized passenger compartment space, allowing for even more passenger seats.

In the current year 2017, the famous aircraft manufacturer Airbus received an order for 430 aircraft from the new neo series. The amount of orders is about $49.5 billion. This order is considered the largest and most expensive in the entire history of the aircraft concern.

Airbus A330 is a multifunctional series of airliners that allows not only to transport passengers and cargo, but also to pursue military purposes. Thanks to its high performance characteristics, the Airbus A330 is successfully produced and used to this day.

Experienced travelers know that comfortable flights take place only on. Aeroflot offers its passengers to book the best seats on the A330 for an additional fee. Before making a choice, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the features of the different rows in the Airbus 330-200 and 330-300 cabin.

Features of passenger seats in the A330:

  1. Seats of increased comfort are installed in business class. The seats have an increased width, the backrests have several modes for lowering. There is an increased pitch of space between the seats in a row.
  2. In economy class, such seats are located in the front rows of the sector, as well as near the emergency hatches. In the A330-200 these are 11/23 and 11/24 rows. In 330-300 - 11 and 29 rows.
  3. The most uncomfortable seats for a flight are those located in the last rows of each sector. They have blocked backs, which will not allow the traveler to take a comfortable body position during the flight. In addition, their close location to the toilets, where other passengers often go, causing quite noisy queues, is disappointing. In the Airbus 330-200 it is not recommended to occupy seats 22, 35, 36 and 23, 36, 37 in the economy cabin with a capacity of 241 passengers. In the A330-300, the most uncomfortable seats are located in rows 28, 45 and 27, 28, 45 (in the cabin for 302 people).
  4. Airbus also has window seats where there is no good view hidden by the plane's wings. In the A330-200 they are located in rows 11-22, in the 330-300 - from rows 14 to 27.

You can book an Aeroflot Airbus 330 when you fill out your flight document on the air carrier’s website. The service is also available at the airport when checking in for a flight. The cost of the best seat in the cabin depends on the destination and the chosen fare. Accurate information can be obtained by telephone by calling the airline's call center.

The Russian airline Nord Wind is quite young and reliable. It is popular with passengers and operates international charter flights. The aircraft fleet is on average 14.5 years old. The airline currently operates 20 aircraft of various Boeing and Airbus models. Of these, the majority are Airbus A321-200. There are 8 of them in the fleet. The cabin layout of the Airbus 321 200 Nordwind will help passengers choose the most comfortable and optimal seats for themselves before traveling.

Overview of aircraft cabin seats

This aircraft model is the largest in the A320 family. Nord Wind operates a single-class aircraft. In this configuration, the cabin accommodates 220 economy class seats. This type of airbus a321 200 is used for budget flights. The distance between the seats has been reduced for greater capacity, so people with long legs will find the standard row uncomfortable.

1st row. There is enough free space in front of the chairs to place your feet comfortably. You can also place your bag or backpack on the floor. Moreover, it is from this row that the distribution of drinks and food will begin, so you will receive it right away. One of the downsides is that there will be a wall in front of you the entire flight and not everyone likes to look at it. In addition, the close location of the kitchen will cause some inconveniences, such as constant noise, smells, etc. There is also a bathroom not too far from these places.

9th. The seat on the right side of the window may have limitations in reclining, since the escape hatch is located not far from them.

10th. Due to the fact that emergency exits are located directly behind this row, the seat backs do not have a reclining function. For this reason, you will have to sit upright for the entire flight, which can be painful for your back, especially if you have back problems.

11th row. On the cabin diagram of the Nordwind Airbus 321 200 aircraft, these seats are among the most comfortable. There are emergency exits on both sides of this row, so there will be a long distance in front of you from the seats in front. This will give you the opportunity to sit comfortably and put your feet up.

23rd. Standard row, but the space near the window has the same restrictions as in row 9; the backrest does not recline.

24th. There are escape hatches directly behind it, so you will have to spend the entire flight vertically. This is due to the fact that the seat backs here do not have the ability to recline, so as not to block the approach to the exits.

25th row. Places here have the same advantages as in 11th. There is quite a lot of space in front of them to put your feet.

36th. The unlucky places in this row are those located near the aisle. This is explained by the fact that the toilets are located at the rear of the cabin. Other passengers will likely be waiting in line next to your seat, which can be annoying and intrusive.

37th. There will be a wall of toilets directly behind the backrests. Therefore they do not have a reclining function. You will have to sit upright the entire way. In addition, there will be constant movement of other passengers, flight attendants with trolleys near you, who can push you, step on your feet, and they will also slam the door. And you will receive food last, since it will be distributed from the beginning of the salon.

Best places

The most preferred seats, especially for long flights, are those located immediately behind the emergency exits: in the 11th and 25th rows. However, it is worth remembering that not all passengers can fly here. According to the rules of most airlines, tickets for these seats are not sold to the following categories:

  • Women in "position"
  • To old people
  • Passengers with a child or animal
  • Teenagers under 16 years of age
  • For disabled people

This is due to the fact that if a critical situation arises, passengers should sit here, who not only will not interfere, but will also help open the hatch and allow others to get out of the plane.

In previous articles about Airbus A320 Family aircraft, we wrote that these are narrow-body aircraft, that is, in the aircraft cabin between the passenger seats they have only one longitudinal passage. The aircraft we will talk about in this article is a wide-body aircraft and belongs to the family of wide-body aircraft “A330 Family”, which in addition to the A330-200 also includes the A330-300 aircraft, which we will talk about in the next article. The “A330 Family” is also distinguished by the fact that these are wide-body aircraft equipped with two engines.

As you may have guessed, the A330-200 cabin has two longitudinal corridors between the seats. We'll talk about the interior layout a little lower, but now we'll present the main characteristics of this model.

The A330-200 is the shortest member of its family. Its length is 58.82 meters. By comparison, the length of the A321 (the largest member of the A320 Family) is only 44.51 meters. This model is equipped with a fairly powerful fuselage and powerful wings, the span of which is more than 60 meters, which is almost twice as much as that of the A321.

The A330-200 has a very spacious passenger cabin. In a two-class layout, the A330-200 cabin can accommodate up to 246 seats. Another advantage of this aircraft is the large cargo compartment, which is located under the passenger compartment. The A330-200 is very flexible and can be used to fly virtually any distance, from short to long-haul. The aircraft is especially popular among cargo transportation companies, and also, due to its passenger capacity and flight range, among low-cost airlines that operate on long-distance flights. The maximum flight range of the A330-200 is 13400 km.

For long distances, the aircraft can be equipped with crew rest areas. A rest area with one or two berths is located next to the cockpit, allowing easy and quick access to the cockpit.

Mobile rest areas can also be installed on the lower deck at the rear of the aircraft, accessible by stairs from the passenger compartment. Thus, the manufacturer made sure that the rest areas for personnel were not allocated at the expense of the interior, at the expense of passenger seats. Places to rest are very important, since flights over long distances last a very long time.

Seats in the Airbus A330-200 of Aeroflot airlines

Let's look at the interior layout of Aeroflot's A330-200 and try to understand the features of the passenger seats.

Aeroflot's A330-200 aircraft has 241 seats, 34 of which are business class (rows 1 - 6 in the diagram), and the remaining 207 are economy class.

The interior of an Aeroflot A330-200 aircraft. On the right is a monitor located on the wall, it displays flight information.

Business Class.

Each row has 6 seats - two on the right and left and two seats in the middle. The seats in the middle are slightly shifted back in relation to the row. The seats in business class are very comfortable, the distances between the rows are large. The backs of the comfortable seats recline almost 180 degrees, so you can assume a horizontal position during the flight. As you can see in the diagram, immediately in front of the first row there is a dressing room on both sides and a kitchen in the middle (gray rectangles in the diagram). The proximity to the kitchen could theoretically cause some inconvenience to passengers in the first row. Seats in the 4th row and seats D and G of the 3rd row also have this disadvantage. Why is the kitchen “dangerous”? In principle, nothing, it’s just that sounds and smells can be emitted from there, and there may be a little fuss around the kitchen.

Just behind the 4th row is the first pair of escape hatches. Behind the hatches on the right side of the fuselage is a business class toilet, and on the left side is a service area.

5-6 rows. These seats also belong to business class and are equipped with the same comfortable seats, but have some features. Seats H and K of the 5th row are located close to the toilet. Although there are not so many passengers flying business class that the proximity to the toilet causes serious inconvenience, this circumstance must still be taken into account. The 6th row is located too close to the noisy economy class, which also needs to be taken into account.

Business class of the A330-200 aircraft of Aeroflot airlines.

Economy class.

Economy class on Aeroflot's A330-200 aircraft starts from the 11th row and is divided into two compartments – rows 11-23 and rows 24-37. As can be seen in the diagram, in the first compartment in each row, except for the 11th, there are 8 seats - two on each side of the fuselage and 4 seats in the middle part between the corridors. The middle seats are slightly shifted back in relation to the entire row (except for the 11th row).

11th row. This is the first row of economy class. Immediately in front of it there is a wall, which is equipped with cradles for babies. Passengers traveling with infants should most likely choose these seats. In general, the seats are good, there are no chairs in front of you, no one will recline their chair back on you, there is a lot of space for your knees. But on the other hand, someone may not like spending the entire flight staring at the wall. When choosing these seats, you also need to be prepared for the fact that passengers with small children will fly next to you.

The seats in this row have some other features. Since there are no chairs in front of you, the folding tables are built into the armrests, making them immovable. On the walls in front of you are large monitors that are constantly on. Some people will like it, some won't.

Rows 12-22. These are the most standard places, no different. If you are traveling as a couple, it is, of course, preferable to choose paired seats on the right or left side of the fuselage.

Economy class seats on an Aeroflot A330-200 aircraft.

The A330-200 has an entertainment system on board. Monitors are mounted in the backs of the seats. On them you can view information about the flight, video images from cameras installed in the nose of the aircraft, which is especially interesting during takeoff and landing. You can also select clips and films. The monitors extend out to give you a comfortable angle. The device to the right of the monitor is a remote control that is removed from the socket. Using it you can also call the flight attendant, turn on the individual lighting bulb, and so on. There is a full-fledged keyboard on the back of the remote control. Below the monitor there are two connectors: USB, where you can connect a flash drive and watch your movies on the monitor, and a LAN socket for the Internet. Internet on board is usually paid for.

23rd row. These are the worst seats on an Aeroflot A330-200 aircraft. Immediately behind them is the toilet. Unpleasant odors, sounds of doors, water draining, queues for the toilet and other unpleasant things will accompany you throughout the flight.

Behind the toilet is a second pair of escape hatches, and just behind them is a second economy compartment.

The second compartment has almost the same layout as the first economy class compartment, but the middle seats are shifted not back, but forward in relation to the row, and in the last rows in the middle, instead of four seats, there are three.

24th row. It is located after the escape hatches, resulting in plenty of legroom. Paired seats on both sides of the fuselage (seats A, C, H, K) are seats of increased comfort. There you can freely stretch your legs, no one will throw the back of their chair at you. You can freely get up from your seat without disturbing your neighbor. In this regard, the middle seats are not so good; they are shifted a little forward from the entire row, so there is less space to the partition.

This is where the advantages of the 24th row end. The disadvantages and some characteristics are the same as in the 11th row. These include cradles, monitors, and the fact that there will be a wall in front of you during the entire flight, even if at a distance. Although the last circumstance is not for everybody. Some people like privacy, and the fact that there are no other passengers in front of them, and everyone sits behind them, is an advantage, but for others it causes a feeling of enclosed space, and they don’t like it. Seats A and K in row 24 are located close to the escape hatches, which can make them a little cooler. In such cases, you can ask the flight attendants for a blanket.

But the main disadvantage of the 24th row is its proximity to the toilet, with all the ensuing consequences.

25 – 31 rows. These are regular seats, the same as the seats in rows 12-22.

32 – 35 rows. Starting from rows 32-33, the fuselage begins to narrow, which does not cause any particular inconvenience. In these rows, the seats in the outer seats (A, C, H, K) are slightly turned inward, towards the aisle. The seat of the passenger in front may not be directly in front of your seat, but slightly to the side.

Sometimes there may be metal boxes under the seats of the front passenger in these rows, which is also not very convenient.

36 – 37 rows. These rows are located close to the toilet, especially seats A, C, H, K, directly behind which are the walls of the toilet and seats in the 37th row, which are located almost between the two toilets.

The handsome Airbus A330-200 of Aeroflot airlines lands at Cancun airport.

Airbus A330 is a group of wide-body aircraft with two engines. In the cabin of such aircraft there are two or more passages (corridors). The largest aircraft in this family is the Airbus A330-300. These airliners can have different capacities, depending on the cabin class. The Airbus A330-300 is the oldest of the aircraft in this series. Below we will look at the interior diagram of the Airbus A330-300 Aeroflot.

The A330-200 model belongs to the same family. The main difference is the reduced fuselage length. At A330-300 fuselage length is 63.69 m, and at the Airbus A330-20059 m. Also, the A330-200 model has less carrying capacity and capacity.

Airbus A330-300 Aeroflot

Aircraft of this series are long-haul. The Airbus A330-300 is capable of covering a distance of 11,300 km. Since it is used for long-distance air travel, the cabin has a special cabin-compartment for crew rest. The cabin also has a dedicated space under the passenger deck. This area is used for the rest of the flight attendants and is located in the cargo compartment, accessible by a staircase from the cabin.

In general, the interiors of the airbuses of this series are very comfortable. It has everything a passenger needs for a comfortable flight. The salons are equipped with a modern ventilation system, as well as individual and general lighting systems. There are monitors for passengers' entertainment. These monitors are built into the back of the seats in front. On such screens you can watch movies, video clips, and also see the image captured by a camera installed in the nose of the aircraft. There is Internet here.

Cabin capacity

The interior of this aircraft is very spacious. Since the aircraft in this series have different layouts, their capacity also varies. The largest ships can carry up to 440 people. Minimum capacity – 295 passengers. The number of seats in the cabin directly depends on which cabin classes are present here. Aeroflot airline has seventeen such aircraft:

  1. One Airbus: 36 business class seats and 265 economy class seats.
  2. Five Airbuses: 34 business class seats and 268 economy class seats.
  3. Eleven aircraft: 28 business class seats and 268 economy class seats.

There are also Airbuses of this family, the cabin of which has three classes: business, economy and first.

Aeroflot Airbus A330-300 interior

Features of passenger seats in business class

The layout of the Aeroflot A330-300 cabin described below will allow you to determine the most suitable seats depending on the needs and wishes of the passenger. As an example, we consider the layout of an aircraft with a configuration of 28 business class seats and 268 economy class seats. The number and location of seats in other liners of this series are different, but the recommendations listed below will be relevant for each of them.

The front section of the cabin consists of 6 rows of business class. The chairs here are very comfortable. In them, passengers can easily endure a long flight. The backrests recline almost 180 degrees. However, even among these places there are some that can cause minor discomfort during the flight. We are talking about the first, fifth and sixth rows. The first row is located right next to the wardrobe. There is also a kitchen and toilets nearby. The fifth and sixth rows are located close to the economy class seats, where they are usually quite noisy.

Economy class seats

If you are flying with small children in a bassinet, book seats in rows 11 or 29. Here, next to the passenger seats, there are specially designated places for placing a cradle with a baby. Row eleven begins immediately after row six in business class, making it the first row in economy class.

In the aircraft of the configuration under consideration, there are no windows near the seats in the 15th row. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the views from the window during the flight, choose seats in other rows.

The seats in row 29 are located next to the emergency exit. In addition, there is a fairly large free space in front of these chairs. This allows you to get up from your seat and freely walk into the cabin corridor without disturbing those sitting next to you. Having free space allows you to stretch your legs and not keep them bent all the time during the flight.

But seats in row 29 also have disadvantages. These disadvantages include overly large monitors (information displays), which are turned on even during night flights. There are bathrooms next to the seats in this row. Because of this, other passengers often pass by the row, and queues can form here, creating additional noise. Often, passengers sitting in row 29 during a flight hear the sound of the toilet door opening and closing, which can be irritating, especially considering that the flight lasts several hours.

The seats in rows 27, 28, 44, 45 are the same as in other economy class rows. However, due to the specifics of the interior arrangement, the backrests of these seats either do not recline or recline at a very small angle. In addition, there are restrooms located in front of these rows. These are not the best seats, so if there are other empty seats on the plane, it is better not to book them.

The two outer seats in row 41 extend slightly beyond the other rows and are partially in the aisle area. This feature is explained by the narrowing of the fuselage in this place.

Arrangement of seats in the cabin

The cabin layout of the Airbus A330-300 Aeroflot and the best seats, which you now know about, will help you buy a suitable ticket. Knowing the features of the seats in some rows, many people buy tickets, reserving the most comfortable seats in each class. Therefore, it is better to buy a ticket in advance, since as the departure date approaches, there are fewer and fewer good seats available. If you have any doubts about choosing a seat, you should contact an Aeroflot employee who will help you choose the best option.

Regarding the described configuration, if it is not possible to buy a business class ticket, it is still better to choose seats in rows 11 or 29. Unlike other places, there is no possibility that the neighbor sitting in front will recline his seat. If in other rows passengers are cramped, then in the 11th and 29th there is a lot of free space in front of the seats. Having a kitchen nearby is not a disadvantage since passengers in these rows get their food first. The only thing that can really disturb you during the flight is the crying of small children (due to the availability of bassinet seats, these seats are often occupied by passengers with infants). As for the presence of nearby bathrooms, the sounds of doors opening and closing can be heard here in the same way as in the neighboring rows. Therefore, when choosing, for example, between 11 and 12, preference should be given to the 11th row.

Of all the aircraft of this series that Aeroflot has, it is necessary to single out the aircraft with the number VQ-BNS. It has 36 business class seats and 265 economy class seats. The seats in economy class are more comfortable than those on other A330-300 aircraft. They are also equipped with additional sockets and footrests. A flight on such an airliner will be very comfortable, even in an economy class cabin.
